WHAM!’s Last Christmas dominates the Official Singles Chart for a full month, spending a fourth consecutive week at Number 1.

Last week, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley made Official Chart history, as Last Christmas completed the longest-ever journey to Christmas Number 1, finally hitting the coveted festive top spot after 39 years.

As Britain’s festivities have been in full swing over the past seven days, Christmas songs have dominated the nation’s speakers, with a record-breaking 37 festive hits making up the Official Singles Chart Top 40 – the most ever. With seasonal classics competing with new hits from the likes of Sam Ryder and “modern classics” from the likes of Ed Sheeran & Elton John, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande, Christmas is proving the most wonderful time of the year for music fans, and big business for the music industry too.

After putting up a brave fight all week, Sam Ryder’s Amazon Original breakthrough festive hit You’re Christmas to Me remains at Number 2, while Mariah Carey also keeps stable with All I Want for Christmas is You at Number 3.

Ed Sheeran and Elton John move up one with Merry Christmas at Number 4, while Brenda Lee dances up two to Number 5 on Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.

Michael Bublé is also up two today with It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (7), while Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me arrives in the Top 10 for the first time ever (8), becoming Ari’s landmark 20th Top 10 hit in the UK.

Andy Williams’ It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year climbs three (9), while Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (10) is the only non-Christmas song present in the Top 10.

Christmas songs rising from last week include; Bobby Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock (11), Dean Martin’s Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (13), Jorja Smith’s Stay Another Day (16), and Elton John’s Step Into Christmas (17).

Pop icon Cher bags her highest-charting single in over 22 years as DJ Play a Christmas Song rises to Number 18 - her highest charting track in the UK since The Music’s No Good Without You which peaked at Number 8 in November 2001. Last week Cher set a new Official Chart record by becoming the first solo artist ever to score a Top 40 hit with new material across seven consecutive decades

Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas (19), The Ronette’s Sleigh Ride (20), John Lennon & Yoko Ono’s Plastic Band’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) (21), Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmastime (22), José Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad (23), Kelly Clarkson & Ariana Grande’s Santa Can You Hear Me? (24), Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday (25) and Laufey’s Winter Wonderland (26).

This week’s stack of Christmas hits is completed by Sia’s Snowman (28), Leona Lewis’ One More Sleep (29), Darlene Love’s Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) (31), Slade’s Merry Xmas Everybody (32), Justin Bieber’s Mistletoe (33), Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song (34), Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five’s Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (35), Coldplay’s Christmas Lights (36), Bing Crosby’s White Christmas (38), Frank Sinatra’s Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (39) and Burl Ives’s Holly Jolly Christmas (40).

The only other non-Christmas songs present in the chart today are Jack Harlow’s former Number 1 Lovin On Me (27), and Tate McRae’s slinky greedy (37).
