God_Donna Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Lady gaga is… something else. The song Art pop makes me cringe and she’s inauthentic. She’s been using the gays for years. Madonna is the complete opposite and will always be the queen of pop. Closest to dethroning her is Taylor and she will also be the last. 1
God_Donna Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Also Madonna is still thriving in 2023!! Let’s see where lady Gaga is in 2043!! Byeee Madonna is a robot. 1

The7thStranger Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) A flop in the 90s... Hmmmm... Three US Top 5 albums. A compilation that has been certified Diamond in the US and another certified 3x platinum. Her longest running #1 US single. A majorly successful video single. Five successful movies. Two sold-out international tours. 15 US Top 10 singles; 13 UK Top 5 singles. On what planet was Madonna a flop? Sure, she crested at the early 90s and was at her absolute peak, but the only reason there was any discussion of her "flopping" was because Erotica underperformed in comparison to Like a Prayer, there was backlash over the Sex book, and Body of Evidence was rightfully panned. But even in those two years of "flopping" (1992 - 1993), she managed to have Top 10 hits and a highly successful tour. This misogynistic flop narrative is nothing but pure fanfiction. LanaDelRey Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Yes, Madonna peaked with Like a Virgin and was never to be heard from again except when collaborating with bigger artists
unino Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 i would like to thank the op @A Million Lights for a good laugh
Maroonx Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 WTF is this... what a lovely way to end 2023 with a good laugh. Thanks babes x
GlamSlam Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 I still click on the OP from time to time for a good laugh. Imagine thinking Gagas first 15 years were bigger when the first half of Madonna's 80s alone wipes the floor with LGs entire career. 1 1
zach Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Why would we agree on something that isn’t true?

Case in point, this was one of the top voted comments (with ~2k upvotes, while y'all pat yourselves on the back about a dozen or two upvotes here ddd) on one of the biggest subs yesterday with unsurprisingly, most replies agreeing. ATRL userbase: 36.4k r/AskReddit (second biggest subreddit): 44.4 million So yes, have your fun to your heart's content and keep screaming "Gaga over!! Flop!! Irrelevant!!!", "thank you Bradley! Ariana!" into the void in this echo chamber until blue in the face. Meanwhile, every year that passes Gaga continues to cement herself as a true generational and versatile talent and multi-hyphenate icon, and no amount of PawsDownLittleMonsters style unhinged essays will change that from becoming a reality. Ever! I always laugh at the idea that you can measure talent. 1

Jay07 Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 (edited) The second hand embarrassment of going for the ageist insult for Madonna fans when Gaga has been around for 15 years (5 of them relevant) and her fans are rapidly approaching middle age. The absurdity of accusing others of being "psych ward patients" when you are so obviously crying into your pillow about Gaga being a fad that you try to come back with a reddit comment (lmao) and a gif from 2018. Mess. Talk about screaming into the void. Edited December 31, 2023 by Jay07 9 1
