Jeremiah Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) UPDATE: After postponing the hearing for fault of not giving proper notice time, the request to put Cher's son Elijah Blue Allman under a temporary conservatorship was denied. Still, a long-term conservatorship is still on the table and will be discussed in March. Quote A judge has rejected Cher’s request that her adult son be put into an emergency court conservatorship controlling his money. The Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer and actor had argued in a petition that 47-year-old Elijah Blue Allman’s large payments from the trust of his late father, rocker Gregg Allman, are putting him in danger because of his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. But Los Angeles superior court judge Jessica A Uzcategui was not convinced that a conservatorship was urgently needed and declined the petition on Monday, though she will still consider a larger, long-term conservatorship at a hearing in March. scenekiller Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I'm sure she means well but aren't conservatorships (intended to be) for people who are incapacitated?

Peroxide Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I can't say I know enough about the situation to give an informed opinion but I would think/hope she's doing this with his best interest at heart.

barbiegrande Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 No disrespect to Cher, but I think any parent putting their adult child in a conservatorship is odd. People will give be more forgiving of her though because society has this idea that mom’s always know best.
Zefierce Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I don’t see the conservatorship lasting very long if she’s in charge. 5
magazine Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I mean, is he rich or something? Otherwise, seems like an honest decision 1

I believe there are two kinds of conservatorships, one that is intended for people with mental health problems and addiction issues (LPS), and one for people who are deemed incapacitated (which is the kind that Britney was under), the difference between the two is that an LPS conservatorship can't be made permanent and expires after a year unless it is extended and there is less control over the conservatee's finances. 1

slw84 Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I'm conflicted considering my fave's experience and her son has always seemed to be fighting internal issues and genetically had a father who struggled with substance abuse issues. I'll say this: Cher, we know you as a legit do the right thing woman even when she had to fight against the system and WON. It's a family issue but I hope she is doing what is best and they've exhausted all other options. Since it's talking about his finances it's giving Wendy williams more than Britney Spears but we shall see...
Mitsouko Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 What do you expect her to do? He's been a junkie since he was a teenager
Erreur2 La Nature Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I guess she has good intentions but but this is not the right solution. 1 8
ANG3L Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 As if she needs money lol this is probably for the best 1 8
Popular Post Kamil24 Posted December 28, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 28, 2023 Cher is the one making money here, if someone was putting her into a conservatorship that would be more concerning. Here it seems like she's doing what is best. 16 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Conservatorships arent always opressive and exploititative of someones rights btw. Sometimes people need a conservatorship to be able to function in society and especially, not suffer financially. 1 3

Julia Fox Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 (edited) Not you all acting like she needs money she’s just protecting her song to not waste the money she gives to him on drugs or other things that would damage his life. She’s thinking about his future. The real question is. If his son doesn’t get better when she dies. What will happen with all of her money and the c-ship? The part of this son is gonna go to who? UnusualBoy Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 She's not a woman who's living by coupons, she has money, she's very likely doing this to prevent her son from ODing or from spending more money on drugs. 8 1
Joesuxx Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Where as I’m sure she’s well intentioned and there’s clearly a lot we don’t know - substance misuse isn’t a reason to put someone under a conservatorship and if she’s successful is she gonna stop working to focus on him, because miss thing has spent the best part of a month in london being a star as opposed to at home being a mom to her child she’s apparently so worried about. I love Cher but a conservatorship is questionable. 1 2 7
