discussion I'm crying right now. My cat's kitten is gonna get euthanized.

She's 5 months old going 6 this January 4 and super healthy. We gave her to our family friend and she loved her. I just got a call from her that she and her son got into argument, things heated up and then after a while she noticed the kitten not getting up but she's still strong. I asked her to take the kitten immediately to the vet and the vet did an x-ray examination on her. Turned out her spinal cord broke. The she's 50/50. 

 

My friend said her son slammed the door hard but she didn't say that the kitten was hit but I just KNOW she was hit.

 

I'm crying right now. I should've just kept her with me but at the same time I knew it was an accident.

 

I tell them to just euthanize her. I'm crying. I don't know where to vent my anger, my sadness. She was with me for five months, very cuddly and very touchy. I'm devasted 

 

 

Update: after battling for life for almost two weeks, my kitten unfortunately passed away. The vet did everything they can to save her life but sad to say that she didn't make it. My friend and I made sure that she was comfortable and loved during her last days. I will badly miss her. Farewell, little angel.

unpopular opinion but little kids shouldn’t be trusted around small fragile animals. Ive heard too many horror stories about kids being too rough/accidentally killing their pets.

First of all, I currently have five adopted cats and three adopted dogs, all spayed and neutered. Second, I don't breed  animals. Third, the mother of the kitten was given to me because the original owner was gonna fly to another country and didn't know she's pregnant until I noticed her showing several weeks later, I didn't have the heart to abort the kittens when they were already big inside the mother's womb. 

 

Stop assuming things about me, I'm very sensitive right now.

it’s really disturbing how they are basically moving around the fact that it’s because of their fight that the cat is now getting euthanised instead of being straight up and saying the door slam is what caused it to happen. i’m so sorry this is happening to you, my condolences

This. And also because we’re buying their word that this is what happened. I’d be inclined to believe a kick, a push or something much stronger would’ve caused a spine to rip apart. No way a door would have slammed a kitten and you wouldn’t hear a thing and then just notice that they were not standing up…. Sorry to bring conspiracy in OP

im experiencing something similar and it hurts so bad, also couldnt sleep for days. may the kitten rest in peace and may you overcome this dark time. animals hurting is always a very painful thing to experience. also very traumatic

sometimes stuff really does happen by accident tho. maybe he didn’t intend for it to happen. overall still very sad

That teenager should be charged with animal abuse. That is so ****** up. 

 

That person is no longer your friend. Seek justice for that poor kitten. In fact, shouldn't the vet have an obligation to report any suspicious injuries?
