Distantconstellation Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 It would be nice if the holiday season started in August with another big holiday.
ATRL Moderator wehavetostan Posted December 24, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2023 Ummm there’s definitely a big one in july
Trent W Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 In the US is 4th of July, but yeah nowhere close as big as Thanksgiving or Xmas I read somewhere that Capitalism influenced it since 25 of December is not even the real date that Jesus was born But honestly economy would probably collapse without the big holidays at the end of the year
Pendulum Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Because holidays = cozy time. And the summer cannot provide that.
Trent W Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Just now, Pendulum said: Because holidays = cozy time. And the summer cannot provide that. Also summer is when you usually rest from the Holidays ls not really a holiday even it happens that often

Christmas is a religious holiday first and foremost. 1

I’m not even anti-capitalism, but that’s just what I tead The Holidays have a massive pull in the economy Without them it would be completely different 2

A lot of Christian holidays were based on existing pagan holidays they just made them religious so people wouldn't have to change their traditions as they converted. So Jesus wasn't actually born on the 25th but it also wasn't invented by capitalism. Edited December 24, 2023 by Illuminati 1
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Summer time is for leisure and vacation. Winter break is like 3 weeks compared to 3 months were people are outside enjoying life.
ATRL Administrator Lee!! Posted December 24, 2023 ATRL Administrator Posted December 24, 2023 The southern hemisphere has entered the chat 5 2
KatyPrismSpirit Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 In South Africa, Australia and Brazil, and many more countries, Christmas is in mid summer. 1 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Also, Eid can be in summer depending on when Ramadan is for muslims so they csn have the biggest holiday for them during the summer months in some occasions
nadiamendell Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Because people need holidays during the winter to keep from getting depressed. 1

brazil Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 It's for the queens in the southern hemisphere. That's why the ides of Santa with all the snow is kinda of silly to us.
constantinople Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 If u live in the northern hemisphere, maybe. In the southern hemisphere, Christmas is in the summer.
byzantium Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Probably because you don’t live in the US, France, or celebrate pride month.
Darius Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 In the Northern Hemisphere? Prob helps some cope with seasonal depression, etc. In the Summer it's easier to celebrate w/o it being formalized. It's something to look forward to in an otherwise cold, dark time of the year. Obviously not true for everyone, but generally speaking.
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Need to make Midsummer a thing in diff countries
rzal Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 In Poland 1st and 3rd May are national holidays so you can easily take one week off work or even with 1 day you can have 5 days off. Not really summer but the weather is usually good.
