Am I supposed to be impressed by this lmao 😂

Yes? What other major pop star (so not Tinashe) could pull that off since him? Who could do such an intricate dance like that flawlessly?

At his peak he was easily one of the most talented writers and performers of his generation. Everyone seemed to be in agreement of this up until 2013 or so. It's incredible how quickly and completely his stature deteriorated after that. Sometime between Can't Stop the Feeling and the Superbowl people decided they didn't like him anymore. Then when the MOTW album sucked ass, he seemed to have turned into a **** performer overnight, it was a wrap.

not "easily" lol the bar was in hell then. Yes, I know he writes but he was/is quite average. Decent enough for his music or whatever he was contributing with Timbo/P at the helm but let's not act like he was on some Stevie or Prince steeze lol.

He was mainly acclaimed in the 00s for being one of the few dancing male pop stars that straight males wouldn't mind jamming to because the music was full of bops. Not much more than that.

Why are all fanbases united in a circle of hate for Justin?

The fact that ATRL stans JB more than JT is quite sad and funny at the same time

The way he killed his legacy is truly a mess

he needs to humble himself!

Right!

All of his music stands on STILTS. Zero soul or substance. He is WONDERBREAD.

No. Everyone was in agreement that TIMBALAND was his backbone if anything and people realized really the lack of soul in Justin. His performances were never iconic and not remembered let's be honest.

His first three albums were so celebrated, acclaimed and successful that yes there were Prince comparisons indeed. Even Pitchfork was giving him super high scores. Gays on the internet have tried to retcon it but we have access to the archive reviews. "My Love" was P4K's top song of 2006.

lol I know critics were always elevating him in the realm of Pop, especially and foolishly at the behest of his female contemporaries but I wasn't talking about him being compared to Prince. I was implying that per his songwriting, he did not have the compositional pedigree of a Prince or Stevie Wonder type and I feel like the majority of musically knowledgeable people would agree. And those Prince comparisons weren't really all that common outside of the FS/LS era where he was clearly being influenced by his swagger. Also, P4K is questionable and always has been, even before Conde Nast bought them out. I wouldn't hinge his former acclaim on them.

Anyway, had JT not allowed himself to get so complacent and comfortable too soon in his solo career, he would still be doing good commercially. Maybe even putting out the best work of his career at this point, maybe even still being a decent performer but oh well, not every pop artist is meant to go the distance.

Chris Brown, Usher, hell even Jason Derulo could do this choreography lol

there is nothing outstanding about Justin and that’s why he has faded into obscurity. He didn’t do enough as an artist to stake a claim. Timbaland & Pharrell did the heavy lifting.

Oh. Yeah. Agreed. But FS/LS and 20/20 are really excellent. But Prince has like six more really excellent albums whereas JT fell off a cliff after that.
