Psyduck Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 It's hilarious that she's bullied people into listening to these Dollar Tree versions of the songs but I am not so easily fooled. The originals of ALL the re-recordings remain far superior. Shellback simply isn't as good a producer as Max. And that Christopher Rowe guy certainly isn't, there's a reason this is his most relevant work. No one else wanted the arduous and thankless task of trying to recreate what were already perfect productions. And in some cases it's egregious, like WANEGBT, or anything from Fearless where the youthful innocence of her voice was the main appeal. Sorry not sorry. She already has all the coin in the world so I don't really give a crap if Scooter or whoever is making $ from her old music. 2
Pop Fan Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Just listen to whatever you want, I listen to the TVs cuz I know everything about the OGs, how they sound every little production element while with TVs there are lots of things that are upgraded, slightly different and also better vocals and it's more interesting and fun to listen to the reimagined version, well at least for me
Into The Void Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) I personally like the OG of 1989. I find the TV unlistenable. Its the mixing. U can't expect someone else to recreate Max Martin songs Edited December 22, 2023 by Insanity 1
modeblock Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) And he should say it, Style and Bible Space were RUINED by that talentless HAG Christopher Rowe Edited December 22, 2023 by modeblock
aesthetic bih Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 I kinda agree him on this with this one. 1989 TV has by far the most underwhelming vault tracks in this TV saga so far But at the same time, it also kind of deserves the retrospective praise considering the OG got lukewarm critical reception which was unfair In conclusion, I'm on the fence about the acclaim 1989 TV is getting. I'm overall happy for its success though

Red is unnecessary, the poppier cuts sound awful. Speak Now kills the teen joy from the OG. And 1989 TV sounds flat compared to the original productions. The Vault tracks sound nothing like the actual album either. this is so true

The only songs that sound remotely out of place are NTWDT and SL. Thank you! The only song on the 1989 vault that sounds like anything on Midnights is Suburban Legends. I think a lot of people are forgetting that the vault tracks were never promised to sound “like the album”.
Mikeymoonshine Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 He's right about both 1989 TV and Troye's album tbh. I love Rush but the rest of the album is meh and 1989 TV does have mixing issues. It was successful cos it's her most popular album.

It’s pretty clear that some of these vault tracks are rough drafts that Taylor probably came up with during these album sessions and never recorded. Now that she’s going back and fleshing them out it only makes sense that some of them end up sounding like music from her most current era. The same thing happened with the Fearless vault tracks and some of them sounding like Folkmore outtakes. People just do too much. Edited December 23, 2023 by BraveNewSeth 1
