Some songs are definitely worse than the originals, but overall it’s not horrible. I do think it receiving “critical acclaim” was super biased just because she’s in her girlboss era rn and negatively critiquing her gets reviewers a lot of hate.

I stg the people saying the 1989 vault tracks sound nothing like 1989 must have never listened to that album once in their lives  **** sounds straight out of the This Love/Urine Love sessions, IION is basically a lesser version of OOTW, and we literally have confirmation from Diane Warren herself that SDG was written and recorded New Year’s Day 2014. The only songs that sound remotely out of place are NTWDT and SL.

I was watching THE ERA tour at my friends place last night n I was dying at her zero stage presence and auto corrected off key singing! Gurl was stiff as a tree and sounded out of breathe every two seconds while having a hard time knowing what key she was in most of the time! She should just sit and sing n never move cuz she probably looks better performing that way.

As someone coming from never hearing Speak Now OG I love the Taylor’s Version. I’ve compared a few of the hit tracks I knew prior and I can’t find much difference. I actually love the new You Belong With Me. I just won’t listen to the OG because I refuse to give them another cent or stream.

I adore 1989 but a rerecorded version of the albums having the biggest debut in almost 10 years and moving more than 100k units every single week for 2 months and getting a 90 on Metacritic is insane so 1989TV is obviously overrated. A 2014 album destroying every single NEW album is just hilarious but I love it. This is definetly happening because of Taylor's  unprecedented hype and cuz of the the incredible commercial and crittical success of the og album. But yeah, a rerecorded album from 2014 with a quite less detailed and polished production having this much success is the definition of being overrated.

I don’t think all the Taylor’s version were downgrades, but certain ones just really don’t cut it, a lot of the ballads on 1989 lowkey got better tho.
