LesFleur Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Though driver’s aren’t entitled to tips… To order this much heavy stuff, knowing the driver will have to unload it - which takes significantly more time and effort than the majority of smaller orders - and not tip anything is so rude. 1

Almighty Gaga Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Tips are a courtesy, not an obligation. It's not the consumer's fault if companies don't pay their employees enough. 18 4
suburbannature Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 This video looks fake, but I will never understand bad tipping for good service.

ATRL Moderator Popular Post Bloo Posted December 17, 2023 ATRL Moderator Popular Post Posted December 17, 2023 Can we reserve the energy of attacking the “Karen” in this case and direct it at the companies that underpay their workers? The same companies that also rely on us tipping their workers (and the subsequent public shaming of those that don’t) so they can maximize their own profit? Tipped salaries should be replaced with actual salaries. 18 1
Perth Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 I rarely tip but even this I find absurd not to lol
Off The Wall Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Pay for employees in the US needs serious reform. I just read that the minimum wage has not increased since 2009?! That’s crazy.
Devin Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 seems fake she better than me cause i woulda drove off WITH her groceries.

tiagol88 Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Whats with the tips obsession in the usa? Aren’t workers paid by the companies and restaurants they work for? Serious question btw Where i live no one tips. It’s your employers obligation to pay you. 1

A lot of “service” jobs such as waitering or bartending allows employers to legally pay their employees below the minimum wage (which as you may guess is already ridiculously low), because they counter it with the fact that most of those people will be receiving tips throughout their shifts and that would balance out a healthy wage. Problem is if people don’t dip, then those workers essentially are receiving nothing. Other problem is if the price of goods and services continue to skyrocket with inflation and stuff, people are less likely to tip. It’s the same in Canada.
Cheeky Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 This is definitely fake but regardless the delivery driver isn't entitled to a tip. "Karen" is correct and it's as simple as that. 1 1
Breathe On Moi Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 this girl is doing deliveries in a Tesla? oh ok 1
Archetype Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 This must be fake, but they are both correct. Delivery people are not paid a livable wage and rely on tips, and consumers are guilt tripped into paying large tips because the delivery person needs it to survive.
truthteller Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Americans need to stop being obsessed over tips and start focusing on labour protection 1

I know, my comment was more in the sense of people that accept those type of deals being miserable and basically working/living to pay the lease off. (apparently this is fake tho)
rzal Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 If she delivered in a car this isn't really a lot of work... Supermarket employees had to put all that on shelves for minimum wage. I do agree she should get a small tip but she probably wants 20% and would fume if she got less too 1

Like a ******* coffee and a bun can be 10 usd and they expect you to leave like 2 usd tip when that is maybe a lunch in my impoverished thirdly world homecountry
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 Idc she was queening out. Pay her!!
X~MoviePoP Posted December 17, 2023 Posted December 17, 2023 The u.s will never pay a good wage so tipping us highly encouraged.

Supermarket employees had to put all that on shelves for minimum wage. I do agree she should get a small tip but she probably wants 20% and would fume if she got less too Employees of the supermarket have all the benefits and protections of being an employee, including a set wage or hourly rate...if they injure themselves lifting, they have sick pay, could possibly sue for compensation etc...a delivery driver isn't employed by the tech companies and is often using their own vehicle which they pay to fuel and maintain. If they injure themselves or the car is damaged, breaks down...the tech companies don't reimburse them. Also, being self-employed contractors, spending waaay longer on a delivery like this is time that could have been spent on much easier deliveries which could pay more. The apps judge payments based on the distance travelled, not how big the order is. So you could get $10 for an order from McDonald's that's a single bag of hot food but the customer is in another town, but let's assume this $400 order of groceries is a mile from the store only pays $3 to the driver...but the driver had to wait 20 minutes for the store staff to get and load up the order in their car...then a few minutes to drive to the customer and a further 10 or so minutes to unload...that's 45 minutes for an order that pays $3. 1
