I don't know about this movie but He's not bad as american critics want to show too. 

 

But yeah i don't know why he has this cult following treating him like a Messiah.

 

Critics hate directors like Bay or Shyamalan but their fan base Is not annoying and just enojy the movie for what they are (usually fun).

Yeah. 300 It's good (or i like watchmen too) cause they really follow the comic books. Especially 300 is almost remade page by page.

the Snyder Cut mess definitely changed people’s perception of him, and turned him into this sort of creative martyr. 

 

people conveniently forgot that he has more duds than actual good movies, and is super uneven

Its why he and Ridley Scott are so hit and miss. Sometimes they have a good script, sometimes they don't. James Cameron is an example of a director that's consistently good. James Cameron writes his own scripts.
