I don’t really get the argument that vinyl sales shouldn’t count because it contains less tracks. Artistes are always releasing “deluxe” versions of their albums with additional songs - should the sales for their deluxe versions be counted separately from the original version too? What difference does it make if people bought a vinyl with less songs? It’s still a subset of the album.

Don’t artistes often sell exclusive versions of albums with different tracks from the version on Spotify? Should all of those not count too?

At the end of the day, it’s all political. Kpop artistes have, for years, “manipulated” the charts by releasing numerous versions of their albums (with different photo cards, covers etc.). Just look at their physical sales figures versus their streaming figures. Nicki has for the most part had an almost equal balance of physical sales vis-à-vis her streaming units. But somehow Billboard hasn’t changed their rules for Kpop artistes (rightfully so because Billboard’s role should simply be to track how many albums are being purchased regardless of cost / as long as it’s not being given out for free) but when it comes to Nicki, they’re always finding some way to stop the Barbz.

Deluxe editions typically contain 3-5 extra tracks. Not 16. The PF2 vinyls could be more accurately sold  as a Super Freaky Girl maxi single atp :rip:

The people in here claiming Billboard is racist for always coming at her… maybe they change all the rules and stuff after her drops because she’s the only one to manipulate sales and be borderline fraudulent.

A part of me wants to get twitter again just to read the comments under this. Latto is so messy and unnecessary. Like girl stay in your place :toofunny3:

That's not Latto. :rip:

Latto's Twitter account is @Latto while that tweet came from the fan account @latto777lifes. Blame it on Twitter giving the blue check to anyone who pays $8/month for their subscription.

It’s insane to me how she went off the rails and never looked back, ever since her almost decade long attempts to never let another female rapper to breakout got disturbed…

She had 6 mos to perfect this rollout and still fumbled. She is her worst enemy. People are over this victim **** she swear she don’t be on when she’s shading the other girls. But every album release “they’re out to get meee!”  Like, duck, **** up. Damn.

Always got a victim story tucked in the chamber, but everyone else be using sympathy to sell? ****, at least Megs **** is real. Nicki just makes up **** when she doesn’t get her way and starts crying.

Pretty much. I won't believe a word she says until proof is posted. It's obvious billboard reamed her about falsifying sales and trying to game the system. She would've posted if they were coming at her for something else

I want them to spill the real tea

If this is truly about the vinyl situation, Nicki is at fault for not preparing the album correctly & not making herself aware of certain tracklisting rules.

With that said, Billboard is clearly unprofessional and we've ALL clocked them on their favoritism/selective sabotage. If this was a different artist, it's possible that they wouldn't be penalized for this. It's a layered situation but Nicki isn't helping her case with the Twitter threads. She's just gonna put her foot in her mouth as usual :deadbanana4:

Demonstrably not true. The “physicals need to ship” rule AND the end of album+merch bundles both clearly affected evermore’s first week, which was significantly less than folklore’s.

I can’t believe you think it’s more reasonable not to count physical pre-orders placed during first week (for a surprise album, so physicals can’t be made without leaks) but we’re in here talking about how a vinyl should count when it contains less than half the album :deadbanana: Nicki is scamming her fans into paying full price for less than half the real product :deadbanana:

I don't disagree with the fact that Nicki selling vinyls with 10 songs is skeezy, but they were still shipped on time and met Billboard rules for album length requirements. 10 tracks is their standard for what they count on their charts as a full length album. Having more tracks on the vinyl wouldn't change the sales figures for them though considering the tracklist wasn't revealed til hours before its release. You are very correct though, it is very ridiculous that 16+ songs arent going to be printed physically on those vinyls.

I do think it's reasonable not to count pre-orders toward the first week when the albums she's selling at that moment are not manufactured. What other medium would rule even be allowed in? You can't preorder a non-existent physical videogame and have that sale count toward its first week of release. That was a net good rule that was put in place because Taylor marketed so many physical copies of Folklore that weren't delivered until MONTHS after its release. Also its very important to note that these rules were not put in place in the same time period as Taylor's releases. I was trying to relay that, when it comes to Nicki's treatment by Billboard, these rules are almost always put in place the week of her release or in reaction to her releases immediately.

No rule was changed cause of TROLLZ…

You're right, my bad on that one. I honestly made a blanket judgment about Billboard reactionary rule changed because I've noticed them more when they affect artists like Nicki/BTS, etc. I apologize for spreading misinformation.

Good point. Billboard should really enforce a rule that a certain percentage e.g. 75% of music content on all versions of an album needs to be the same in order to be counted as the same album for chart purposes.

I fear Taylor started this with the 3am edition of Midnights.

I don't really care that much about Nicki, but I feel like whenever there's some drama surrounding her, it has something to do with the charts :toofunny3: Like... how can a 40 year-old woman be so chart obsessed? :toofunny3:

lol I feel she’s saying she’ll show the receipts once the album debuts on the chart bc then she won’t have to worry about more “sabotage” but this is Nicki we’re talking about and she always goes on these tangents and then next week moves on to a different topic and doesn’t do anything like she said she would.

What does Billboard stand to gain by taking sales away from Nicki Minaj? We all know Nicki doesn't have a very strong relationship with the truth...

“You’re not just blind you’re willfully blind” this just coming out of thin air right?, you never noticed that every time Nicki has an album out there’s a new “rule”? Blinded by hate for someone you don’t even know for no reason at all will have duds saying ANYTHING

Tomorrow she’s gonna go on her little podcast and blame atlantic for going against her but they gave her her biggest hit in YEARS.

And can she keep cardi’s name out of her mouth for once omg, she always finds another rap girl to drag in to her messes like Latto with the grammys. WAP was not a hit because they partnered up with cashapp bffr:dies:

Not everyone is against you Onika, why do you think you’re so relevant to the higher ups in the music industry?

Every single predictor said that you were on track to sell 200k, did you just pull the extra 100k out of your ass
