Anyways, Stan culture is quickly becoming overexposed. Not to be a geezer but I think it was more fun a decade ago when nobody knew what calling someone a flop meant. Now it seems like every mainstream brand, influencer, and celebrity is trying so hard to imitate 2011 ATRL and it’s been such a shock to witness over the last few years. Even straight men are saying stuff like “we stan!” :rip:

yeah it’s actually really sad tbh :skull:

My issue with Doja of all people saying this is that she’s an internet troll herself.

Anyways, Scarlet would have been a much better album if she hadn’t censored herself. Really say “**** the gays” and shake the table

:clap3: Yes ma'am. Let em know...I'm glad she has a good handle on it and knows not to give it too much energy.

Is she wrong? Stan twitter is cringe and stan language outside of a few online spaces is even more cringe.

She's absolutely right. Everything about stan culture, including me writing this comment, is absolutely cringe and lame.

the girls are getting tired of the messiness and borderline misogyny, Cardi, Gaga, Lana, Ariana, etc have acknowledge this in one way or another

We have to re-evaluate stan culture. It’s a problem that so many female artists are expressing disdain towards us these days.

These new age stans on Twitter are just a whole different breed though. I don’t know what it’ll take.

lol I'm not one to use those terms and I see her point how it can be weird on the receiving end of it but she's taking it way too seriously. It's not that deep.

No, it is that deep. Having Stan Twitter attack a new popstar every week/month and just dogpiling on artists, calling them all types of flops, over, ended, etc I imagine can become very draining and aggravating to our pop stars. It’s all fun and games until it’s not.

Same way people are under every PopCrave tweet calling Cardi all types of ended and botched with no relation. It’s not cute. And I understand that majority of these users are children below 18, but we really need to reassess the way we interact with our pop girls online. It really ain’t cute to be in their mentions throwing fits calling them over because you don’t like a single/album/look.

but they sure as hell love us stans when they have the world in their hands.

Taylor is the only MPG who appreciates stans

finally someone who stands by their truth. every artist has this fear if they feel their fanbase toxic they just shut up and try to reach their bars but in a longer term they can’t keep up. everyone has their limits and i’m glad that she talked about the toxicity of stan culture.

Is not a good comparison imo. Even if Taylor was ever genuinely annoyed with her fans, she’d never say that. Plus, she’s massive enough that Stan discourse can be easily ignored.

On the flipside, I miss when celebrities weren't accessible via social media, and were more "mysterious."  When your audience is millions of people connecting in real-time, there will always be bad interactions.

She said that while also wearing a wig to make sure they would still call her mother after that statement :fonso:

not her having so much pent up hatred for the gays who say "mother" :rip: I mean it is cringe but like it's not as deep as she is making it out to be. I get the parallel between the idea of mothering and giving and sacrificing and how she's saying that should not be expected of an artist and ish but I swear it's not THAT deep Doja :toofunny3:

Also her whole career was built upon the support of stan twitter. She literally started off as a meme artist thanks to stan tiwtter making Moo! viral...she's in her pseudo "deep" era and its annoying.

True. They need to stop interacting with trolls this  is why they fear heated for no reason and start losing their mind.
Just delete your acc or let someone handle your social medias.

It’s true but she’s the last girl that should be weirded out by “so… so weird” internet behavior :skull:
