Since Gaga suffered from overexposure in 2011-2013, she has held back her engagement with the public to the bare minimum. It seems she is scared of becoming overexposed again so toned down the high art and visuals, and shortened her eras by half, picking flop lead singles that wouldn’t take off. Did her creative drive work hand in hand with her success? Should she have kept doing her thing no matter what people would think? Or has she been smart in taking a more careful approach? Discuss

She hit the jackpot her first 3 years, once it was mainstream, she became a lil arrogant and people grew tired. Shes doing it correct now having her moments but not an overwhelming state like 2011.

Didn’t she have an identity crisis around these times? I think her career is in an amazing place all things considered, and if she continues to act as she ages it will get even better. She still has a long career ahead of her if she wants it.

 

I don’t mind her being low key these days. She gave so much from 08-13 and even beyond. She deserves whatever she wants.

I think it was one of the interviews she did in 2021 but I remember her saying she got tired of going out with friends and family and getting hounded by everyone that only cared to see what she was wearing. It was probably fun for the first few years but not sustainable.

 

With that being said, I do want to see her push for more experimentation in the music. The last two studio albums were decent but I need more passionate stuff from her.

I am pretty sure she said she considered suicide post-ARTPOP, so I think it has more to do with her mental health and reevaluating what’s important to her.

Her peak fame era was unsustainable, and probably utterly detrimental to her life in every way but her career. I doubt it's something she had any interest or desire to maintain. Born This Way era when she was going full boar she was everywhere and I can't even imagine how exhausting it must have been. The amount of live performances, tours, music videos etc. 

 

I know people think they're being cute with some kind of drag comparing her fame then to now but a) it's impossible to maintain that and b) it's obvious she doesn't want it anymore.

At least we still have her legacy to look back on, even if she doesn't want to be that type of superstar anymore.

I find this confusing because I feel like Lady Gaga has still actively promoted her work.  She seemed everywhere for Joan and ASIB.  
 

Also every artist promotes their music less than they used to. Beyonce, Taylor,  Ariana. Etc.

No she's just doing what all popstars are doing ATM tbh which is the bare minimum...

Especially established popstars like Beyonce,Taylor, Adele don't do TV performances anymore etc..

She won’t be overexposed if she releases no music before Joker. If she starts 2024 with a new era, it will be her year and she will be everywhere like 2010 again. But it’s too good to be true

She's just laying low and enjoying her wealth as she should. Gaga is very smart and calculated she knows exactly when to be in our faces again.

No, she's one of those people who really do do what they feel like doing and doesn't give af about anyone else's expectations and that's how she's achieved so much growth in multiple entertainment domains including music and film

I think it got to be a point where she couldn’t keep it up. 
 

Gaga could have another big era but I don’t think she knows what to do to make it happen. She gives up so easily on each era too.

Her entire career? Maybe up until 2015

 

Then she did everything she could to be liked by middle America

She gave too much in a little span of time, and that deeply impacted her mental and physical health. 

 

I'm glad she slowed down, because she was clearly not doing well. Now she seems to be more joyful and peaceful with her projects, taking her time for each thing.
