Anyone else find themselves caring less and less for Christmas each year?

I'm not a huge fan of family dinners I hate forced socialization the only thing I love about Christmas are the decorations. Christmas and Halloween are GOAT when it comes to Holiday decorations

I don't care about it since I was 10yo, tbh. I've always hated it because of the mandatory family gathering.

It’s way better than Thanksgiving though.

It's because you realize Christmas is basically about spending money.

It doesn’t have to be. Winter solstice traditions existed prior to Christianity and lots of ways of celebrating don’t have to be focused on money. I love the music and movies/whole vibe.

No, in fact I've been enjoying it more as I get older. I always love the festive vibes and I like getting gifts for other people.

you’re getting old

Even Christmas day was always boring to me once you open your gifts. All I ask for these days are gift cards so I can buy for myself.

The opposite for me, especially post-covid. The twinkling lights, the trees, the music - it feels so magical. I try to avoid major chain stores around this time of year so I don't get bogged down by the commercialism, but my family's home is always decorated beautifully and we go to various light shows. I always treasure those moments when we aren't arguing

Working retail for almost 4 year already killed my Christmas spirit. Christmas doesn’t even exist to me anymore, I forgot that it’s like 2 weeks away tbh.

Is it true that retail overplays All I Want For Christmas to death to the point it's annoying?

it's like public proposals you're put on the spot and forced to be nice about it

Yes. They always used holiday stations that play the same 20 Christmas songs every year. I will never forgive Mariah for that song. It was like once a week they’d play You Make It Feel Like Christmas by Gwen Stefani and it was a blessing because they never played it.

Mte. I love that I can now actually afford to buy everyone close to me a present

I guess it would depend on if you like your family or not. I personally really enjoy the time with mine.

Nah, I like being an adult and being able to buy presents for people I care about. I love decorating my own tree too :heart2:

The other great thing about Christmas is that the extended family gatherings were cancelled in 2020, and since my immediate family enjoyed 2020 Christmas so much, now we never go to any of the extended gatherings :heart2: It’s so much better spending Christmas with the family members I actually want to see (plus friends from my hometown that I don’t always get to see).

Honestly it has been the opposite for me.  I get more and more into Christmas each year.  All my friends and family moved to different parts of the country so the week between Christmas and new years is the one time of the year I get to see all the people I care about most together.

I love everything about Christmas except for having to see my dreadful sister in-law once a year.
