K$Ellie Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 NewJeans and Addison yup they ate this year especially NewJeans Tinashe's ep was really cute, a couple of bops here and there but I'm looking forward to the full thing next year Maybe You're The Problem made me switch a bit too nnn I used to drag her for being basic but that's the definition of basic 1
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 23, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2023 EP LIST UPDATE I felt bad downgrading Tinashe to EP and saw I had an ep in the album list so did a switcheroo final top 5 I swear Summer Walker CLEAR 2 ep was so good. The woman is such a musical genius but no comment on her relationships Albums update next post
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 23, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2023 ALBUMS 63 - 55 This update is a bunch of "who's that?" so I won't write much on them xo I love CHAI. such a fun band and they didn't disappoint with this album (though it's the worst I've heard of them). Hannah Diamond finally releasing a decent album after the bomb that was debut album. 1 of 2 Cleo Sol albums I decided to put after each other. She's one of the vocalists on SAULT if you know of them. 2nd Cleo Sol album here and the better of the two albums she put out. Emilie Kahn is a really cute harpist that I'm glad to hear another album from. Alaska Reid is currently dating AG Cook so uhm there's that. Really good production and I love her voice. I don't even know where I heard Laura Groves from but her voice is gorgina. Hannah Georgas album is so good. A lot better than her Aaron Dessner produced album in 2020 that suffered from being a pandemic release. Debby Friday is a new artist pitchfork hyped but ended up ignoring. Such a good debut album.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted December 23, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 23, 2023 Haven't heard an album on this update You should recommend me one you think I'd like! 1
K$Ellie Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Hannah's album was alright but Poster Girl is a fun bop! Debby's was good, I mostly remember I Got It which bangs a bit 1

Hope you like something here Maybe You're The Problem made me completely switch on miss Ava and I really saw her vision for great classic pop music. Glad the album was really good with some amazing standouts. Tension was a bit disappointing but sorry an album with Padam Padam and Tension just can't not make my list this year. Last is a sleeper from January which really fit the mood and I'm glad to see miss Nicole getting better Highlights from each: One of Us, Padam Padam, Runnin' Free Totally agree re: Ava, the album was really really solid I still go back to it 1
TheWayWeWere Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 Hannah's album was better than the debut, but I still feel like her first singles were her best output 1
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 24, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2023 Good Luck is so cunty 1
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 24, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2023 ALBUMS 54 - 46 Emily King's album is a bit of a decline from her 2019 Scenery but still a really good rnb album. Blondshell was a randomly promo'd indie gurlie and I'm debut album definitely deserved the hype. Kari Faux album is also really good. I love her eclectic her sound is and I really want her to blow up more. Seems this entire post contains albums I liked but the artist has released better before. Art School Girlfriend who I checked out solely due to her stage name is a really dreamy record which is a sound I've been super into this year. Molly Burch is such an underrated singer. Love everything she's put out. Doja's Scarlet was slightly disappointing... I wanted a lot more edge but I'm glad songs like Agora Hills are there to really elevate this failed attempt at a grittier album from Doja. Cloth are a random duo Spotify pushed that met that dreamy ambient sound I'm into right now. L'rain remains a genius on her 3rd album. The singles on this are some of my favorite songs from her yet. Slayyyter really served cunt on STARFUCKER though the really early leak made the era not punch as hard as it should have for me

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 24, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2023 ALBUMS 45 - 37 why not a 2nd albums update today... Jaugar II is not as good as Jaguar I and that's all I have to say. It does continue to showcase how talented Victoria is. She dips into many sounds effortlessly and I really hope she wins a grammy or two with this next year. Stereo Mind Games is an amazing return for Daughter and their sound on this is a lot lighter which I appreciate. Feist Multitudes has quite a few songs that really clicked for me. I haven't really followed her before this album. Falling or flying is so underrated. Jorja should be huge with this record. Speaking of another underrated artist, Tkay's album is everything her last few eps have been put together. There's no genre she can't effortlessly do. Sorry Girls are another random indie band I found through pitchfork. I love their 80s throwback sound and this album gives them a bit of an identity. I didn't spend as much time with Indigo's latest album but she's such a talent and continues her string of fantastic albums. Mitski returns... well sorta kinda (laurel hell overhated I decided). Liv.e album is such a fun listen. These mosaic neo-psychedelic albums from the new alt rnb girlies are so good
smholiv Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 1989 TV definitely resurrected my interest in that album. It was once a favourite of mine but I fell out of love with it, but somehow she knows how to refresh these albums in a way that keeps them interesting. Great EPs I loved the Bambii EP but didn't spend a ton of time with it. some of the songs invoke Shygirl and we love that. Also NewJeans ofc Debby Friday was fun, I didn't listen to it a ton but it was really cool and I'll check out her future stuff. Hannah yeah... I wasn't a fan of her releases prior to this but that album hits all the right notes, its a good end to that chapter of PC music. Slayyyter, Tkay, Indigo, Victoria all great too :let2: a few of the other Albums so far I am not familiar with but I'll try to check them out!!
TheWayWeWere Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 Scarlet is very 50/50, I love some of it, but the other part screams boooring. Omg, I kinda glad I'm not the only one who prefers Jaguar 1 over Jaguar 2 1
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 25, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 25, 2023 Jaguar II was miles better than Jaguar for me 1
Kiss It Better Posted December 25, 2023 Posted December 25, 2023 AMAKA yesss she's so underrated BB/ANG3L, Jaguar II, Falling or Flying, Scarlet 1
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Get Up and Oasis in the top 5 EP STARFUCKER, Jaguar II, Multitudes, Sweet Justice & The Land Is... are one of my favorite albums this year The way i kinda enjoy Disenchanter a lot even though i expected some PC music based on AG Cook production nnn
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 26, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2023 ALBUMS 36 - 28 Happy Holidays girlies Sorry I Haven't Called is such a cute pop album from Vagabon. Got to see her live this year so I was really hyped for this. I was obsessed with Birdy's 2016 album and this feels like a return to form for me. I love the 80s direction she went with this record. I was initially disappointed with Arlo Parks' second album but it ended up being such a grower with some of her best songs yet. Kara got a bit of hype before her debut album and honestly what a unique voice in the indie scene. Her writing is so good and in your face. Samantha Urbani finally puts out an album and it's everything. 80s Blood Orange album but with talent oop. Aly & Aj were losing a bit of there steam since their come back but I really enjoy this album. Very much the sound I'm super into. & the charm is a delicate debut electronic album that really stuck with me. I will die on the hill defending age of pleasure. It's such a good follow up to her thematically heavier previous albums. Big Picture is another sleeper hit album for me. I was obsessed with the lead and the rest of the album follows a similar vibe with low stakes but really good build up through out the tracks

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 26, 2023 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2023 ALBUMS 27 - 19 We're getting into the really really good stuff now Billie Marten remains one of my favorite indie voices. She has such a good ear for melodies and drop cherries meets all my expectations from her. Jessy Lanza served boots down on this banger of an album. Pink Friday 2 is a bit of a mess but I'm super into it (for now) In another life Blomi would be my album of the year because these tracks... they move me so much whew. Sexyy Red had such a big year and I love everything about this album. Every track slaps and people shouldn't write her off. Jamila's Water Made Us is so good and such an easy listen. If she didn't slander libras it'd be much higher I fear I'm sorry Tinashe... I switched last minute BB/ANG3L is an album as you claim. Eartheater finally released something I like. Powders is such an amazing album to me. Obsessed with her ear for melodies. Helena Deland's 2nd album is so much better than her first. Really good indie music here
TheWayWeWere Posted December 26, 2023 Posted December 26, 2023 Portraits nice to see it on someone's list she deserved a big comeback with this album 1
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 27, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2023 Arlo Parks Nice to see Aly & Aj too, I feel their record was very underrated. PF2 above both of those tho? please Blomi is excellent I just listened to Helena recently and it's a great record 1
