Why would you compare these two? One is a female pop artist, the other is a female rapper. Extremely different markets and audiences. The obvious answer is Gaga.

Lady Gaga is at an all-time low these days. Everyone was calling her over after Born This Way but she took us by surprise with the ASIB soundtrack and managed to sort of change her image to be more appreciated by the general public but even that did not help with her following album Chromotica. I feel like there's no demand for new music from her. She isn't talked about when she isn't in the middle of an era and people are not dying to get more Lady Gaga music.

 

Nicki Minaj flops most of the time but once every blue moon she managed to snatch a "hit" or get featured on one. When she releases the right song people show her some interest but they mainly care about her "character",  behavior, her beefs, etc... 

 

If we have to compare both, Minaj definitely feelts more relevant and popular overall.
