Usher isn't in the writing credits, only H.E.R. and Jimmy Napes so it's really H.E.R.'s Oscars war

Quote

Risk It All, a striking duet from USHER and H.E.R., produced by H.E.R and co-written with renowned songwriter Jimmy Napes. Risk It All encapsulates the raw emotion and enduring strength of the film’s narratives: risk, love and liberation. USHER’s signature smooth tones blend seamlessly with H.E.R.‘s soulful depth, creating a hymn of resilience and courage from THE COLOR PURPLE (MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY), the soundtrack album for the upcoming, newly reimagined motion picture release of The Color Purple. A star-studded musical journey, this collection features beloved songs from director Blitz Bazawule’s bold new film, in addition to original material inspired by the rich tapestry of the film’s narratives. Boasting songs from the film, newly penned inspired by songs and remixes, this musical tour de force will be available December 15th. The Color Purple Film will be exclusively in theaters in North America on December 25, 2023 and internationally beginning 18 January 2024.

I was lowkey expecting something more sultry & sexy tbh in a very slightly raunchy way with that title. That would be different for H.E.R.

This is cute though & they sound nice together. I definitely can see Urban AC Radio playing it but that's it.

Halle's song is in the movie, and Fantasia's song plays first in the credits. They qualify. All remaining soundtrack songs, including this one, do not.

Which makes the inclusion of it on his album even more annoying… just useless and taking up space for what?

You're pressed & bitter for what?:skull: H.E.R. doesn't need any special reason to be on a Usher album, because it's H.E.R., one of the most prominent female R&B singers the past 6 years.

Only other girls on the same or similar level are Summer Walker, Kehlani & Jhene Aiko.

If it helps you, I find it ridiculous he put a previous soundtrack song on his last album, too. I don’t think soundtrack songs need to take up space on anyone’s album. The song itself isn’t bad either. I may not care for H.E.R., but it’s not like the song is unlistenable. It’s very cute. Also, Usher does not need to collaborate with Kehlani or Jhene lmao please let’s not speak that mess into the universe.

They have this labeled as soundtrack on Apple Music so it's not showing on the R&B chart.

It's #4 for soundtrack songs but I don't know how "good" that is.

Also it's Top 50 on Urban Radio building chart apparently

I'm not a fan of HER but this song is beautiful. Usher better go back this RnB route.
