Psycho Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The 2nd TTH #1 check will be clearing on January 1st 2
unclefloprry Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 (edited) Fans of certain artists felt personally attacked it's sad when you're used to one week peaks or songs that do 10M streams in the first days and fight for years to reach at least 1B of streams. drag them queen Edited December 4, 2023 by unclefloprry
Enrique523 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 She's right but of course people will use it against her somehow. 2
Bloodflowers. Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 She's talking about US market here because her songs are instant hits in Europe, South America and Oceania 2 1
Relampago. Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Ouuu she knows Houdini is underperforming rn Get behind me queen!! 3

Dua hasn’t relentlessly dragged her fans for supporting her nor donned neo-nazi imagery so I wouldn’t say that 1 4

I will say that I'm surprised Houdini didn't coast to the US top ten on sheer momentum. It's a disco type song & not that huge of a departure from FN. The people really just straight up said no. Houdini isn’t something I expected to take off in America tbh. Houdini sounds like a song you hear in dark dingy sweaty gay nightclub in Berlin. Dance the Night is an ultra glossy bright poppy disco pop song. Not to say I think Houdini is some avant garde experimental pop song, because it’s not, but I also think only certain fans of Dua are going to love it. Houdini is not a song I’d ever expect someone’s parents or grandparents to ever bop to, whereas I think DTN has that universal broad appeal to it. i am surprised how poorly Houdini did, it did even worse than I thought it would, but I’m not super shocked it wasn’t an instant hit in America. The fact that Lovin On Me went #1 and was released the same day in America kinda shows you what America prefers, even after Jack’s horrific performance of the song lol. LOM is easily digestible & basic. 1
Yoko Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 she just received the email that the TTH 1 year residency was secured we’re prepared for a slow burn
BloodLuster Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 so basically she's skipping Prism and going straight to Witness
wish Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 For her past singles sure, but Houdini clearly isn't happening in the US. It's nearly top 10 on Pop radio and only #167 on Spotify. The GP here has already said no. Hopefully she moves on to a new single ASAP, unless she's ready to waste her time on a "moderate hit" at best. 2
byzantium Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Just release better music Dua. Houdini is not happening. 1

OT: I'm sure the rollout for single #2 will be more refined and impactful, Houdini seems to be a test run of sorts, perhaps it can be relegated to her "Focus".

Dua’s Barbie hit #1 and made over a billion dollars tyvm 2
Cheeky Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 She's not wrong. I don't see her team giving up on Houdini. Aren't physicals being shipped in the US in like late February or something? That's sort of indicative that they're playing the long game here and always planned to. It's also a lead single so I'm sure we'll get a bit more promo in time.

naval23 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I honestly wonder if Houdini will be the exception and be one of those weaker debuts that doesn't end up a hit
Sugar-Rush Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The new "it was too ahead of its time for certain people"/"music not the bling". 1

Personally I feel like it’s not even apparent that she’s launched a new era to the casual observer cus she kept jumping on songs on her break. Maybe she should’ve waited till the Barbie campaign run was over. Just spitballing… 1
