She always wins with critics and I think she cares more about that. It was one of my favorite movies ever to watch concert film or not she really captured the fun of being at the tour while weaving in the backstory and gave us her most intimate moments ever. 10/10 idc how “bad” it does overseas. Its probably doing better than most concert movies aside of taylor swifts anyways

Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus also did better overseas. There's also MJ film if you count that as a "concert film".

Reality check: you’re sitting there counting seats and cackling from a rundown town bout a woman who made 600m this year :deadbanana4:

Ok so?
Since all the eras tour showings were sold out I was curious if it would be for Beyoncé as well, literally takes only 15seconds to check

No it doesn't, we don't keep up with anything Britney does and she's been flopping for decades.

It's also really weird how Beyhive act as if Beyonce's skin color was somehow an obstacle to her success when there's SO MANY incredibly successful black artists through history: Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake, The Weeknd... I could go on and on and on. You have SZA right now, a dark skinned black woman, having a MASSIVELY successful album with SOS. And let's not forget that Beyonce herself was a massive commercial force for many years, even being Female Artist of the Decade in the 00s.

This idea that Beyonce is less successful than Taylor because of her skin color is just pure coping and delusion. There's a lot of racism politically (we saw the backlash to Obama's presidency and BLM in general) but when it comes to music and entertainment nobody out there is going out of their way to not listen to an artist's music because they're black, that's just not a thing :toofunny3:

omg, this comment is not it. wtf. :biblio:

OT : it's bombing WW, we've been telling y'all she's local. :rip:

The Beyoncé's skin color not being an obstacle comment is out of hand, even with the huge if the public didn't care about her skin color or race, there's people behind the scenes that do and don't or wouldn't think twice when it's time to minimize her, hell it's even in the RENAISSANCE film :deadbanana4: there's racism she faces by the public and systematically by the industry, especially when most her output lately has been thematically about the empowerment of people of color, women and queer people.

@Mystic Boy it’s odd to see you so quiet sis

Firstly this topic is dumb, the numbers are good and the release WW was very limited.

But most of all, engaging with Swifties is the most irritating and boring thing ever on ATRL

At least there's some good laughs with the other bases :sistrens:

Because it would be surprising for her to flop. :sistrens:

THEY SMASHED THIS DISLIKE BUTTON HEAVY. Babe you know talks of YT supremacy on this forum is not received well. It's like shouting BLM at a Trump Rally. :rip: But you brave for standing up though not being silenced. Glad to see people say this because back in the day on ATRL saying this would result in an immediate banning. I think if this forum gets a regular influx in new users, five years from now this won't be a controversial take.

Clearly the dislike-to-like ratio shows people don't take umbrage with the message but the messenger.

"The Hives need to lay off the excuses"

Y'all sound so funny. Because this, all of it, doesn't matter lmao! Y'all want the Hives to start licking Taylor and Swiftie feet because of the fact that a Black woman doesn't have equal power in Europe to a blonde White woman who has more theaters on top of that. Woah that's so unexpected! Mind blown.

And Hive babe, why are you bending into a pretzel over whether or not this movie didn't smash. Who  cares? All this bs going around in the world and you letting some YT gay with acrylics typing on their iPhone that they have only paid half of it off from the back of an Arbys after throwing out the trash to end their shift using broken AAVE is making you this pressed? Stand the up and move on. Bey has nothing to prove and you acting like this is just sad at this point. The movie didn't smash. The movie wasn't the next Barbie. Okay? Who cares, she didn't make this for the numbers. Y'all already know she don't care about anything numerical outside of the checks deposited into her account. Move on and stop arguing with them over every little thing. It's played out at this point imo. Stop the stanwar for the love of God.

Arguing over something so trivial. I don't get it. Anyways I am going to go watch it soon. Never been the biggest fan of movies like these but it'll be quite interesting.

If you didn't care so much, you wouldn't be 9 pages into the discussion, though...

Also, screaming BLM! Beyonce didn't smash bc she's not white! while generalizing a group of white gay males as working minimum-wage jobs (which, there is nothing wrong with) is maybe not as "mentally stable" and "mature" and "smart" as you so claim you sound.

I'm genuinely surprised you didn't start with your famous "Um, I'm not about to read all that" opener.

She has always been pretty local and her success is US centric, why are people surprised over this? She is still talented and known by many.

You're bitter about my Britney posts. You dont care about Beyonce. You called her "********," a racist nickname, for years and years (and got away with it). The movie is playing during mid-week, not just weekends. AMC's just not reporting mid-week grosses till tomorrow or Friday.

This, the movie is somehow flopping WW unfortunately.

Hmm, I think it can be explained quite simply. Beyonce has had a huge tour, and it satisfyied the demand.

Now that it's satisfied, most of the concert film potential goers likely already saw her live, so not much point of going to the cinema too.

what boggles me really is anyone being surprised this underperformed or acting like it's groundbreaking news

we all knew this was going to happen. facts are still facts, this is the best concert film ever made and anyone who watched it knows it, and a lot of people who didn't care for Beyoncé, watched it and left feeling inspired and with a new found respect and love for Beyoncé, and i know more than a few

even my swiftie friends were talking about how there's a lack of excellence and discipline in the world because everyone's watching Taylor's - and i quote - mediocre concert film and not Beyoncé's masterpiece. words from several, actual diehard swifties.

Thats the world we live in - people, especially Gen Z, being constantly depressed/anxious and when confronted with excellence, perceiving it as arrogance or sth that lower their self-value
