It's also really weird how Beyhive act as if Beyonce's skin color was somehow an obstacle to her success when there's SO MANY incredibly successful black artists through history: Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Drake, The Weeknd... I could go on and on and on. You have SZA right now, a dark skinned black woman, having a MASSIVELY successful album with SOS. And let's not forget that Beyonce herself was a massive commercial force for many years, even being Female Artist of the Decade in the 00s. This idea that Beyonce is less successful than Taylor because of her skin color is just pure coping and delusion. There's a lot of racism politically (we saw the backlash to Obama's presidency and BLM in general) but when it comes to music and entertainment nobody out there is going out of their way to not listen to an artist's music because they're black, that's just not a thing Edited December 5, 2023 by Enrique523 7 1 2 15

flashfox Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 She did that by only appealing to a small demographic
FolkLover1989 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Wait it ended up doing even less than $6m Omg Now that's a flop for international market It would barely recover cost of prints all over the world and in some countries not even that

Was Beyonce making bland pop music for mass consumption at 33 with lyrics like “it’s me hi I’m the problem it’s me”? Was the market the same in 2013/2014 as it is in 2023 to compare by age? Let’s use that tiny little brain of yours for some critical thinking. If you think comparing an album like Renaissance to basic pop fodder like Midnights and Lover is reasonable then lmao. Surprise! Grimes’ alternative music isn’t mass consumed like an Ariana Grande album! You have described Katy Perry’s music here, not Taylor’s. And then you would be correct.

HEAVYONIT Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Who cares? The Renaissance tour did great. I'd much rather go see a live tour than a tour film.
HEAVYONIT Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 The real kii here is people actually arguing about going to the movies and wasting your money to watch a concert film, regardless of who the artist is
bijonse Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 She always wins with critics and I think she cares more about that. It was one of my favorite movies ever to watch concert film or not she really captured the fun of being at the tour while weaving in the backstory and gave us her most intimate moments ever. 10/10 idc how “bad” it does overseas. Its probably doing better than most concert movies aside of taylor swifts anyways
