Have you been with someone from a group that your parents wouldn't approve of?

Minus the obvious (LGBT for most of us unfortunately), are there any group of people that your parents spoke down on, or cautiously about, however  you got with one, or a few, of their men (even for a fling) anyway?

I've topped Caucasians & a few South Asian dudes so...sorry mom :toofunny2:. My parents never really outright disapprove of them for the record. They just have trauma & resulting trust issues from the way they've been DONE DIRTY by particular groups of people. Plus, they rather us end up with someone from our ethnicity anyway just to preserve tradition.

my family despised my first boyfriend. in hindsight, i wish i had listened to their concerns because he was awfully abusive and i was so naïve! could’ve spared myself the years of trauma. :chick3:

Erm no my parents aren’t like that :doc:

However they would never approve of the ages of the men I hooked up with as a teen

My parents didn’t like that I was dating someone older but now they like him :michael:

I’ve never introduced them to anyone I’ve dated but I’m sure they would disapprove of me dating guys who are 10-15 years older than me

I once sat near a Nicki Minaj fan on an aircraft and my mother died a week later.

No, this is very much the 2020s sir & yes, they only know about what you tell them. That still doesn't change the fact that most of them are most likely boomers & have outdated views as a result :ahh:.

I don't know if they even knew we were "dating," as I never came out and said it, but they hated the first guy I dated. They were right to, though, I was young and dumb. I'd never go for anyone like that nowadays. He was such a bum and a loser, he was attractive, though... at the time. I saw recent pics of him, and he just lost it all. :lakitu:

Oh absolutely. Literally any of the people I've dated who were either dumb or um...working class, my mother would've hated. Fortunately none of those were more than very brief encounters so she never knew about their existence

My mom met my first boyfriend only, and it was at my high school graduation so it was very brief. Other than that, I’ve kept my dating life private

i'm gay so everyone i guess but i know they'd be even more upset if they knew i've slept with older men as well as men of colour. i don't feel bad about it though, i do what i want, my parents can stay pressed if they want.

Dated a guy twice my age one time. My parents did not like that.
