flashfox Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Anyone associated with a famous person gets somewhat popular 1
Credit Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 the replies, lol. she didn't acknowledge olivia's existence before she had already bagged one of the biggest billboard hot 100 no.1s of all time (according to billboard) i can see it for conan. he got taytay's co-sign before having any mainstream success
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 In a fair sense, I’d say: 1) Ed Sheeran - he was blowing up outside of the US in 2011 with +, I believe, but Taylor fully endorsed him during the Red era in America by letting him open for her Red tour, collaborating with him on a single on that album, & talking about him publicly. His era after this (x) was his breakthrough era in America in 2014. She definitely introduced a bunch of Americans to him for the first time. 2) Jack Antonoff - he wasn’t known on a name basis until he worked with Taylor a lot. As far as I know, Taylor is the first pop girl to ever work with him on 1989. 3) Joe Alwyn - no one knew who he was before she dated him. 4) Travis Kelce - football fans can seethe on this one. I get that Travis was huge in the sports realm before her, but she absolutely opened up him to a new audience of people solely because she dated him. I had no idea who he was before this Fall. 5) Aaron Dessner - I had never heard him prior to his work on Folklore/Evermore. Maybe someone can prove this one wrong for me. I guess The National was popular with indie audience prior maybe? But she definitely made him more well known. Saying anyone else is kind of a reach imo 1
By the Water Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 The OTH love making threads about Taylor but also complain about the number of Taylor related threads 3
LoveInStereo Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 She put Garden Song on a playlist & Phoebe’s audience exploded. She tweeted about Kelsea Ballerini when she was just starting out & it had a similar impact. Many of her opening acts already had fans but their popularity grew exponentially after touring with her. Anyone saying “nobody” is either speaking out of ignorance or truly OTH

WEEKND Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Not people saying Kanye when prior to the vmas he had a 5X platinum album in the US and Graduation had outsold both TS début and speak now in the UK and his album was gold in Japan not counting the fact that he had number one hits that he both produced and performed. Taylor didn’t have any of those y’all be saying anything 1 1

Raspberries Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) She helped get Nicki her first true smash with Super Bass Shawn Mendes got a smash with Stitches right after he opened for the 1989 Tour She (and 1D) helped Ed get off the ground in the States Olivia Rodrigo is basically a Gen Z clone of Taylor Nothing New helped Phoebe Bridgers get known outside of indie circles Jack Antonoff Joe Alwyn Edited December 1, 2023 by Raspberries

Digitalism Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) If you didn't know these people before why are you paying you're internet connection? Taylor was kinda late to everything All this thread proves is that swifties only listen to Taylor 24/7 and don't know about music Because saying kanye, aaron and phoebe is plain ignorant Edited December 1, 2023 by Digitalism 2
Freakshowvato Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Anyone saying anything other than her boyfriends and Jack Antonoff.... Jack is not really a celebrity but as an artist/producer he's famous because of her. I knew all her opening acts before they opened for her (ed sheeran, shawn mendes, conan gray, sabrina carpenter, gracie abrams, etc) and very rarely did any get much more famous directly bc of her. That's actually insulting to those artists and the songs they had that made them known.
perpetual novice Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 the people saying kanye are giving extreme musical illiteracy 1 1
Safe&Sound Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Greasy Abram or whatever that nepo baby who sang in cursive and gain popularity by covering Taylor's songs in her concert
