WEEKND Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Upgrade Her country discography needed the facelift now everything is pretty and aesthetically pleasing
naval23 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Fifteen (Taylor's Version) was an upgrade for sure
Brooklyn Baby Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Fearless TV and Red TV were upgrades Speak Now TV and 1989 TV downgrades 9
QueenB Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Upgrades, the new vocals are stunning and the production is a lot clearer
Wolf Alice Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Upgrades... No one's gonna be using the OGs in a few years
jimmytimestep Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 the country tracks have improved. The pop/dance tracks have suffered. 11 1
Redstreak Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Outside of one or two songs, vault tracks + better vocals + clearer production makes them an easy upgrade in my book. I actually like being able to delete the OG off my phone once we get the TV 3
dumbsparce Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Sidegrade tbh. As a casual listener, I could only pick up the differences in the hits. Some I liked better than the originals, some I felt indifferent about.
liquiddiamonds Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 (edited) She has a better sense of ambience and space in her production. Her old stuff suffered from overcompression, since that was how most of the music of that time was produced. Her country stuff has definitely improved, especially with her new vocals. We can hear instruments they used to bury deep down in the mix to make it seem more pop-rock and less country. The pop stuff I personally like it because I enjoy details and space. I think Max compressed the music too much for a punch feeling - which is funny since that’s what most seem to miss from the OG. But in turn Taylor has highlighted different aspects of the production in these new mixes and the songs transition to chorus more seamlessly. If I didnt believe that at a certain point Taylor will own her old masters back, I’d say the new ones could easily replace the older ones with no big consequences in a few years. MidnightsAtPeace Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Most of the new versions are upgrades in my book. All of the rerecordings have one or two (maybe ever three) butched songs but that's all I have to complain about, because most of them sound better to me. Rerecordings that sound the most similar to their originals: 1989 TV > Fearless TV > Speak Now TV > Red TV
Ron Ng Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Fearless: Upgrade The rest: Downgrade (I never use them except vault tracks) 1
unclefloprry Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Style TV would be enough to close this thread. 2
americanlife Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Most of the time an upgrade, but I still use the original versions for nostalgia. I always stream TV, play original physicals.
Cruel Summer Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Significant upgrade. I still think people who think they’re dramatically worse have their streaming app’s settings ****** up or something. 1
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted November 30, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted November 30, 2023 Upgrade. Fearless, Speak Now, and Red are all much better. 1989 is a bit of a mixed bag. I either give a slight edge to the TV versions of some songs, a slight edge to the stone versions, or the changes are so subtle that I do not notice at all.
byzantium Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Fearless -> Upgrade Speak Now -> Same Red -> Downgrade 1989 -> Same
BtDecember Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Generally an upgrade with some downgrades. Her country albums needed those upgrades so it is a major upgrade imo
