Beyonnaise Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) This conversation is getting so exhausting. Their movies suck now mostly because the ideas are just unoriginal and boring and most things just feel like a rehash. It has very little to do with their tokenized "diversity". If people en masse were boycotting Disney movies because of ~wokeness~ aka characters not being all white straight men, why was Coco a smash just a few years ago? Because it was actually an interesting story and well crafted within a rich cultural fabric. Same with Encanto last year (though the plot was meh). The Marvels didn't flop because the leads were women, as much as incels would love that to be true. It flopped because The Avengers franchise is so overdone and tacky at this point, because to understand it you have to keep up with the hundred different multiverse universes through flop Disney+ shows nobody watches or cares about, and because it looked terrible and uninteresting. Communion Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 One of the greatest Disney animated films of the 90s is literally about how an institution of religion served to push white supremacy and xenophobia by outcasting the destitute, unhoused and nomadic within historical Paris. 1 1
Mitsouko Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 This evil company just keeps getting worse oof

Da Vinci Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Yikes if true! If Beauty and the Beast (1991), Mulan (1997), That's So Raven (2003-2007) and SO MANY others were made today, SNOWFLAKES would've cried "WOKE! POLITICAL! RADICALIZING KIDS!" Racebending also existed back in the day like the Black Muses in Hercules (1997) and even in non-Disney kids' movies like an Asian Lost Boy in the Peter Pan sequel Hook (1991), Black Becky in A Little Princess (1995) off the top of my head. And not a single kid CARED! It's only a problem NOW because Dump's presidency has emboldened SNOWFLAKES to be loud and proud about their own PARANOIA and BIGOTRY, ew! 1 1
SmittenCake Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 What Disney movie celebrates progressive values?
Trent W Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Just create better stories Changing the races of characters is not enough, is weak pandering and it even makes minorities uncomfortable. Coco and Encanto were a massive success because they are original newer stories 1
Shelter Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Disney has destroyed themselves. Drop the remakes. Also Disney+ is a mess. It’s slow, the layout is rotten, and the content is not great. I won’t forgive them for ruining Hocus Pocus 2.
FlyOnTheWall Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Disney always had periods of flopping but came back strong after like in the 50s with the silver era, the 90s with the renaissance or the 10s with their revival era so I hope for them this current period is just another time history repeats itself and they're able to come back again in a couple of years with iconic movies, critical and commercial success. Don't care for the company as a whole but I will always root for the hundreds of artists and creatives working for them, investing sweat and tears, especially on Pixar and the Walt Disney Animation Studios. 4

The problem was that they were horrible It’s a little both you make a billion when everyone sees your movie and that include racist homophobic sexist conservatives Barbie celebrated women but also gave a lot of horays to men, capitalism notice how Barbie land is gonna take steps to change but the real world will still have that all male boardroom Edited November 29, 2023 by rac7d

Thus making the any effort they make disgenous.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Encanto ain’t even 2 years old this generation just needs constant content to complain about. The fact that 2019 was barely 4 years ago and was the biggest year in Disney history. The company will be fine. Be fr. 4
