kellebrity98 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 So Britney released an album called Circus in 2008 and P!nk released an album called Funhouse in 2008 and then Kelly Clarkson wanted to name her early 2009 album Masquerade but changed the title because of these similarities. What is the reason behind this?
Popular Post satellites.™ Posted November 26, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2023 Copying Xtina who did it first a few years before. 21
GraceRandolph Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Maybe because paparazzi culture peaked a few years before 2009 so the idea of a media frenzy/circus was a common theme or phrase. 8
Vixen Eyes Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Oh masquerade would have been a better title 2

Yoko Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 (edited) xtina impact of course and she still did the concept best Edited November 26, 2023 by Yoko 3
Mr. Mendes Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Actually you'll notice it goes back even before this. Xtina had some circus themed visuals during Back to Basics, Madonna used the circus theme heavily during The Girlie Show, Cher used the circus theme a lot across her various shows. There are just certain aesthetics that are very evergreen in the pop world. Most pop girls have done a circus theme, a Latin theme, a sex theme, etc.

BrokenMachine Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Weren't all of them under Sony? Maybe Sony had some share in Cirque Du Soleil and started their 'make circus great again' campaign P!nk explained it like this: Spoiler "There is a lot of that [break-up], but there is fun happening too and that's why I named it Funhouse in the end." Pink has also stated that she sees life as a carnival: "Clowns are supposed to be happy, but they are really scary. Carnivals are supposed to be fun, but really they are kind of creepy." [...] "and that's like life to me, and love. Love is supposed to be fun, but it can sometimes be really scary. And the funhouse mirrors that make you look so distorted that you don't recognize yourself and you ask yourself, 'How did I get here? How do I get out of here?' But, you think that you want to do it again. That is the same as love and life. It's a metaphor for being in love and for life." 1
