As many know, Amanda Bynes gave the best performance of her career in Easy A back in 2010. However, shortly after the success of that film, she became addicted to Adderall and had a drug-induced trip on the set of Hall Pass which led to her quitting the film and announcing that she was retiring from acting completely. Her Adderall problems led to other substance use and mental health issues that were documented publicly from 2012-2014. However, after successfully going to rehab, she enrolled at FIDM for a fashion degree. And, in 2018, she announced that she was returning to acting:

Despite this, she never accepted any new roles and chose to focus on school. She graduated from FIDM in 2019 but her personal struggles returned after she started dated an aspiring rapper who was addicted to crack cocaine. She has now cut him off and has been seen recently looking healthy. Do you think Amanda ever will make a true comeback as she had planned in 2018? Should she?

No. I watched this YouTube video about her career that made it all click in. She wanted more serious roles but she was usually type casted as a silly goofy side chick type role and she could just never escape that.

Not easy giving her situation and reputation but It's not impossible, Ke Huy Quan that this year won the Oscar for EEAAO stayed 20 years without acting, most important thing is that she solves her health issues and struggles, you never know that she might have a comaback even with a minor role once she's fine.

She was given the option to continue her show on Nickelodeon; she instead went to star in a sitcom because she wanted a "more serious" role. She should have stayed on the "Amanda Show" simply because children and pre-teens are the major (and more obsessive) consumers of popular culture.

She was in a movie in 2010 and got fired; I assume the cost to insure her will be very high as an actress.

She “should” in the sense that she’s funny and talented and deserves the opportunity. But the industry is a horrible place so maybe she’s better off not getting back into it.

If studios are willing to sign disclaimers and legally adhere to her mental health then sure.

BUT they won’t so NO

Given the state of her mental health stepping back into the limelight/industry wouldn’t be the best idea.

Her movies were funny and iconic, she was a good comedy actress. I miss her.

But Hollywood isn't a good place for her. Even if she will ever get a good or big role she'll not able to handle the fame and the social media exposure.

As much as would love to see her on screen again, it’s probably for the best that she doesn’t. Mental health is important and I wouldn’t want to see her slide back to where she was.

I would like her to be given the opportunity to act again. And then she can decide if she feels up to it. For her that ship might have sailed, 2018 was five years ago and since she's relapsed in that time her perspective might have changed.
