Liking something because everyone else does and scrutinizing something because everyone else likes it are two halves of the same coin :coffee:

In either case you’re centering your opinion about something based on what others think of it - kind of dumb if you ask me!

Stars may be aligning for reputation TV. Is a million opening within reach again?

Quite an odd title, article and "poll".

Taylor Swift is so interesting to me. When she first started, she was this artist who tried to be well-liked by everyone as she mentioned in Miss Americana. It must’ve been life-altering to her psyche when the whole Kim and Kanye drama happened, which resulted in the silly (but exciting, in terms of her discography) reputation era. Then fast forward to now, she has reclaimed her status as a “good girl grown up” by literally playing it safe since the reputation era failed to further her career and “image” as a star. Then, she decides she’s not a “bad girl” and decides to reclaim her “good girl” image with Lover and its silly Target commercial video for the wretched “ME!”. Then, somehow she tries to act like an advocate for the people and a feminist all around the time her documentary comes out. And present day, she literally just uses one page out of that “woke-feminist” playbook and asks her fans to register to vote every several months and that’s about it. Wh*te people love her for making non-intimidating music (and being a non-intimidating public figure) in a world filled with sex, drugs and wokeness, and Taylor is fully aware and engaged. :intoit:

oooof :dies:

Except her favorability ratings among Black and Latino voters specifically are even higher than her general favorability or her favorability among White voters only:

Of course I wouldn't have needed to point this out for you if you had clicked on the cited article in the OP yourself instead of making an uninformed and false comment. :lakitu:

I did look actually and made that conclusion thanks

She is much more liked by non-white demographic

Love this just like when the other user posted the same exact thing. Thanks!

You know how polls work, right? Your obsession with Taylor can’t make you that blind, right?

Fun fact: my iPhone corrected « polls » into « pills » which is… interesting here :cm:

It’s really not an obsession. It’s a gag people are surprised or gloating an easily digestible American girl is doing good in the American pop music scene you know? Not to discount her achievements, its just it makes sense in 2023 after the timeline America has had in 2020

This is bittersweet. She's at such a peak that anything but this will be a downfall for her

Bittersweet? You know Hollywood runs on points like this right? Oh you don’t. Well let me explain Hollywood runs on points, if you have 100k likes you have a .1 score. If you have 1,000,000 likes you have a 1.0 score. All these celebrities are trying to hit the 1.0. Taylor has like a 10.0 huntry lol

You do know what a peak is, correct? What goes up must come down.  With every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. the most “popular figure” is about as high as it gets. Once she’s not the most popular figure anymore the peak ends because SOMEONE ELSE becomes the most popular figure. It’s bittersweet because she’s having an amazing success but anyone with a brain knows nothing lasts

Why isn't Beyonce included in the OP, but are like the only public figures in the poll, and both seem very favorable, only second to Taylor for people

Because the tweet and the featured quotes only mention Taylor, and she's the only one mentioned in the article's headline. Hope this helps

Go ahead! Since it references the same study that there's already a multi-page thread around, it'll surely warrant a merge :gaycat5:

That would be great, and both can be included in the OP

The OP rightfully focuses on the main subject of the article's headline and the sole tweet promoting the article by the reliable news organization that published it, so having it altered to reflect the second most well-liked public figure (that isn't mentioned in either) seems performative :michael:

The Asian erasure in this polll. They have specific categories for white, black, and Latino only. As if Asians don’t make up a large percentage of the population in the US.

So then whey would they be combined?

And considering they're the only TWO public figures, and both pop stars, I think it is very fitting to include BOTH on this forum as it's an accomplishment for both

Statistics backed up by data will always trump anecdotal evidence. You and your likeminded circle do not represent the majority population, and the attack on her fans was rather unwarranted

This has always been the problem with OTHs, and why they hate it when Swifties bring up actual data to back up what they're saying :rip:

While I don't know what OTHs usually say, I've been in two threads recently with Taylor stans that disapproved what you just said. For one, some Taylor stans claimed that her commercial peak was bigger than Gaga and Adele's but when stats were pulled out (sales certifications of albums + single stats showcasing Taylor was behind in non-English speaking countries) they either ignored it or downright disappeared from the thread

Then recently Taylor stans were claiming LWYMMD was the biggest video of recent memory but when stats were revealed from Google about traction being bigger for WAP, Hello and Born This Way they ignored that as well.

So I don't know... maybe practice what you preach?

I think America is a little bit behind the curve presently. Don’t they also still love The Kardashian’s?
