Achilles. Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Thrilled SZA prevailed in AOTY. I was so afraid the Lana or Olivia stans would ruin this. SZA + Kylie + Billie + Rush video was exactly what I wanted. Really wish we could have rounded it out with wins for Sufjan and “Timeless,” and maybe something for Kelela. But you can’t have everything. Only Sufjan’s Rock Song loss really stings. Padam is probably our most inspired general field pick ever. I’m proud of us!

Achilles. Posted February 4 Posted February 4 (edited) ATRL Grammys Cumulative Winners 1. Taylor Swift: 25 2. Beyoncé: 17 3. Kacey Musgraves: 13 4. Kendrick Lamar: 11 SZA: 11 6. Rihanna: 9 7. Cardi B: 7 Dua Lipa: 7 Billie Eilish: 7 10. Ariana Grande: 6 Lana Del Rey: 6 Kacey Musgraves rises to third place with her two wins for “I Remember Everything.” (Fun fact: our top 3 most awarded artists have all won the ATRL Grammy for Country Duo/Group Performance!). SZA’s four wins tie her in fourth place with her “All The Stars” collaborator Kendrick Lamar; they won Rap/Sung Performance together for that song. Billie Eilish’s two wins for “What Was I Made For?” boost her into the top 10, while Lana Del Rey’s Alternative Album win and Lifetime Achievement recognition tie her for tenth place. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé remain comfortably in the top 2, despite both going empty handed this year. This is the first year where the two of them combined won 0 categories. … Multiple General Field Wins 1. Taylor Swift (7) 2. Beyoncé (5) Billie Eilish (5) 4. Carly Rae Jepsen (2) Lorde (2) Kacey Musgraves (2) Ariana Grande (2) Dua Lipa (2) SZA (2) With her Song of the Year win for “What Was I Made For?,” Billie Eilish rises from third place to tying Beyoncé for the runner-up slot. Taylor retains the record for most Song of the Year wins, with four. Beyoncé retains the record for most Album of the Year wins, with three. Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa jointly hold the record for Record of the Year, with two apiece. This year, Eilish becomes the first person to win both Song and Record twice. With her Album of the Year win for SOS, SZA becomes the ninth artist to have won multiple general field categories. Interestingly, SZA and Kacey Musgraves both make the list thanks to wins for Best New Artist and Album of the Year; none of the others won Best New Artist. … Multiple Wins for Acts to Debut in the 20th Century: 1. Mariah Carey (5) 2. The Chicks (4) Kylie (4) 4. David Bowie (3) Sia (3) No other acts to debut in the 20th century have won more than 1 ATRL Grammy. With her two wins for “Padam Padam,” Kylie leapfrogs from fifth to being tied for second. She is the only general field winner to debut in the 20th century. (Note that the totals for Mariah and Kylie include their non-competitive Lifetime Achievement Awards). Edited February 4 by Achilles. 1

To think how they absolutely dominated the first decade of this ceremony and, ultimately, neither came particularly close to winning anything this year. Especially surprising for Taylor because she had such a massive year.

The little lipsters don’t seem to turn out in force here, but Lana may eventually twirl her way towards the top of the list; perhaps Lasso will make her the fourth act in the top 10 to win that category?

Could have been "Margaret," but I had to correct my error and put the kibosh on that. Just wait for Kendrick's big duet with Zach Bryan on his next album.
