Is The Eras tour Brazilian leg showing ATRL's xenophobic side?

Some of yall's posts are disgustingly xenophobic and racist, this is not a situation for your entertainment. There's nothing funny about artists never coming to SA. I had to wait 7 years to see my fave, is it fair i had to wait more than the average American and European fan? NO

Swifties being hateful is nothing new but it has exposed their hypocritical side cuz they were so adamant when the ASTROWORLD incident happened but now suddenly it's "not her fault!!!"

The unfortunate reality I’m only seeing now is these “Brazilian fans hate Taylor now” threads & convos are absolute bullshit from OTH so we have Swifties saying rly inflammatory **** bc ppl have been pushing false narratives from the moment this poor girl’s passing was publicized to try to make Taylor look bad. Shame on some of you weirdos for exploiting a tragedy for an excuse to hate on a popstar. Yesterday’s news was a shock. Ppl need time to process & things will blow over. Anyone comparing this to Astroworld is ignorant, period

the only exposed one here is you. your use of both tragedies as a way to make some "point" is deplorable. they are totally different situations.

OT: I never said that kind of thing but I feel like there's so much more than that behind the words "Taylor will never visit Brazil again". like it's more about her nature of never letting something go / holding grudges than what's really going on in Brazil.

Honestly, I think so. I don't think "She's never coming to Brazil" jokes had bad intentions, but it's tacky, weird, and just in poor taste.

Every situation shows ATRL's xenophobic side

But yes, and they do it in such a 'casual' way :skull:

Yes, but it’s no surprise to me tbh. Some american swifties on twitter were even hating the argentinians fans for how they welcomed her like :rip: as if if they aren’t constantly violating her privacy in the US. Just say you hate LatAm and go.

swifties throwing around unconscious biases aren’t surprising. latin americans are very passionate when a big name artist visits

Different situations but they should've been handled the same way: cancel the show and offer a refund.

She was greedy, period.

Taylor is not a killer, she didn’t provoke the deaths, the weather caused the harm not her

Travis Scott is an actual killer of his own fans

I hate when ppl from certain countries pretend as if in their countries something like this would never happen.

It can happen anywhere and yes blocking bringing own water was a mistake but honestly ALL venues do it. They should have known better because of the temperatures and failed, but to the ones here who believe they would come from a “better country” and tell artists “leave Brazil asap and font go back it’s too dangerous”… Ariana happened in Manchester. Astroworld happened in US. Ur not better

honey white americans as a group are one of the most entitled and racist ***** out there :bibliahh: as if dating someone who could pass for their sibling wasnt enough of a mental illness they also defend every american popstar unrightfully when its being called out for their bad moves. my friend is a much bigger T.S fan than me and shocker shes selling her vip tickets bc she cant attend tomorrow and has to fly back east to her homestate. its sick when their true colors show up, white americans dont like south america and never will. white americans have an ingrained colonizer mindset and only sympathise with europe as a foreigner fan group

their lowly selves will never be as charismatic as brazilians are nor respectful and well mannered as europeans are

I agreed up until this. Ignorance exists everywhere across the west sadly.

well yeah, but having had experiences with americans and europeans, and my boyfriend being from europe i agree that he is much more willing to learn about other's cultures and sympathise with those who have it less than him. ive once had an american literally call me less fortunate because my parents are now struggling with paying for things to me, besides paying for bills n etc, but yeah, on a certain note thats true and it extends to the whole global north

This is tbh something I see whenever a western artist who tours a developing country. Always mocking "come to Brazil".

I agree with this to an extent. The she's never coming back is not because something bad happened in Brazil so Brazil is an inherently bad place to go. It's because it's her first time ever touring here, and she had a fan die, 1000+ fans fainting, obviously some internal problems between her team and the stadium's team, the fans reaction to the show being rescheduled late... It's a whole thing, and it's the very first time she toured here.

I mean most people would not want to put themselves in this situation again if it was their first time.

Had something like this happened in Asia for example, nobody would say that because she's done enough shows over there to have the conscious part of her brain seeing it has an "outlier" occurrence (I really don't know how to formulate that how I would want because English is not my language, but hopefully you understand my point). In the case of Brazil, her ONLY experience there is the worst possible.

I'm not saying that some fans haven't displayed xenophobia, of course some have. But "she's never touring Brazil ever again" is not (at least in the vast majority of cases I imagine) a "Brazil is terrible and she should never go back there".

That being said, just as some Swifties are guilty of xenophobia, there's just as many OTH that have been foaming at the mouth of a Taylor backlash and making jokes and threads and stan wars bullsh*t and kiis out of the death of a fan. This is just as braindead.

Making any Astroworld comparison insofar as Taylor’s culpability here is really galling gaslighting and completely shameless and I say that as someone that doesn’t stan for either.

Travis actively encouraged crowd crushes at past events which instantly negates your argument but there’s about 20 other points I could give on that too.
