Brazilians fan vs Taylor Swift

People need to remember this isn’t just her decision, and at every step the mayor has been sharing information before she ever does so it’s quite clear there’s been a lot of pressure to move forward. She probably wanted to do this last night but unfortunately with the way this system works, she can’t make that call on her own. Her team, local authorities, the stadium, and the promoter all have to be on the same page before this decision can be made. And if last night is anything to go by, no one is on the same page. The negations for this postponement have likely taken all day.

Wishing that Taylor cancel the whole thing as a punishment is REALLY NOT IT. North American and European users…..

No one is wishing that, we just want to avoid another horrible incident like the one happened yesterday.

I'm confused here. Someone died at the previous show and they are mad she postponed tonights? What nonsense. Imagine how furious they'd be if it went ahead and someone else tragically passed. The show has been POSTPONED, not cancelled :deadbanana4:

These people were all already INSIDE the stadium after hours or even days of waiting, she knew already the day before that the temperatures would be like that, at least she should have postponed it in the morning.

They hired hundreds of more people to make sure everyone was safe today, were giving free water and firebombers were throwing water to hydrate people so the chances of the same happening were extremely low.

3 more hours of suffering for these people wouldnt not make much difference, at least they’d get to see their idol. Now lots of them have to go back to their states (Brazil is huge) and may not have the opportunity to see her again. It’s all a big mess and I usually think people hate on her too much sometimes but there’s no way to defend this this time around.

They're frustrated and rightfully so but they also should know better... a girl died last night and that could also happen to them with the high temperatures. Taylor did the right thing and they can cry about it if they want but it was the best decision for both ends.

I recognize both sides, this is obviously the failure of the government to timely look out for the people.

Ik but what if she went ahead with tonight and another incident happened. No one wants that to happen again, so yeah she made the right decision.

I dont think you have read my comment correctly… she should’ve postponed. It was the right thing. Some people above my OG comment was asking for the whole latin american leg to be cancelled, when the heatwave will be over by the weekend and next concerts are in Sao Paulo in another stadium

Why?

I love LATAM and travel there often. Standards of practice are just not the best, is all.

I don't speak portuguese but what I got from the second woman's vent is that she probably booked tickets to Lover fest and it got cancelled because of the pandemic and now her show gets cancelled again and she paid for hotel and flights/transportation each time. Either way, let them vent - it's obviously frustrating. But the right decision was made. Literally 1000+ people fainted the previous night and one person died. No ma'am, no superstar is worth dying for. Taylor picked the better of two evils.

Taylor should have known better. Not the fans.

Like the original poster wasn’t with their implications of how Brazilians act when things get canceled.

Once again, this isn’t her decision alone. Many people seem to believe it’s solely the artist’s call but it never is and never has been.

With these events, it isn’t up to the artist alone to cancel or postpone contrary to popular belief. The artist’s team, the promoter, the venue, and local authorities all must be on the same page and in mutual agreement on what’s going to happen before it can happen.

The mayor has been the one posting details about dates and such, Taylor has not. As sad as it is, it’s very likely there was a lot of pressure from the promoter and mayor to go ahead today. If I had to place my bets, her team was ready to do this last night after the news came out, but the system and logistics of it all prevented this.

The final decision was taken out of everyone normally involved’s hands—a government agency made the final call—so there has for sure been an open dialogue between all parties likely all day and only just when the announcement was made was there a mutual decision, or perhaps there wasn’t one and that’s why another agency made the decision instead.

Late, absolutely, but not a case of Taylor or her team being reckless.

3 more hours of suffering if everything went right. People being inside of the stadium isn't a good enough of an excuse not to postpone if they thought a repeat of yesterday could happen even with all the preventive measures. At that point of the day the girl was still alive and conscious so who's to know how things would have played out. It would have been better to postpone it earlier but they didn't so it's better to do it when they did than to risk things getting worse

Thank you. This is what I was tryna say.

Honestly, she should just skip Brazil in the future.  A girl died due to the venue’s negligence.  How can you be upset for canceling?

You say “she” as if everything is her decision only. Obviously she has a lot to say, but it was probably the venue pushing to have the concert today.

Well, the issue here is that you’re assuming “she” is the one who postponed it when there are hundreds of people (including literal governments) who were calling the shots and had personal stakes in the decisions made today. There’s a reason the mayor of Brazil was on site to make the announcement.

This was an impossible situation all around but blame should be laid squarely at the event organisers who endangered the lives of fans (and the performers’ for that matter) in the first place.

The postponement took too long, her team and the promoter knew today’s weather was going to be even worse.

Taylor and whoever behind this decision made the right call here. There's no guarantee that it would stop people from fainting or dehydrated. No one should risk their health for a concert. People can be mad all they want, but someone has to be the grown up here.

The negotiations took so long. Mayor announced the postponement, he was directly involved in it.
