Brazilian people are extremely entitled, unfortunately, and we have this mentality that artists in general own us something because we're supposedly "too good fans". They did the same with Lady Gaga back in 2017 (and I was part of it, shamefully) claiming she was liar, she only canceled rock in Rio because she was promoting her doc, that it was fake, etc. It's just the way Brazilian fans operate. It's frustrating, of course. But people were willingly posting wishes of murder on Taylor yesterday. These people wishing her these things are the very minority and you know that. Most people that are frustrated, though, cannot afford paying another night because they don’t have the money or because they have to work both on monday and on tuesday, since the concert is during the evening. Logistics are not benefiting those that are not from Rio. You are downplaying the amount of people that traveled and saved a certain amount of money to get a date and go back home, because you live in a big center where your Taylor date remains untouched. These people that were mad at Gaga like you did too much, but weren’t wrong in the end: she never came back and it was the sole opportunity to catch her for most that don’t have money to go abroad. They still remained fans and she would still fill a stadium here too if she were to come back. The swifities will overcome this, especially since the leg wasn’t cancelled and she will still perform all of her dates. Now about the people making an entertainment off of it: log off Twitter. The real world in Brazil is unmoved by this whole Taylor situation. People were enjoying this weekend (even with a heatwave) and there were other big events happening around the country (Afropunk in Salvador with Victoria Monet and RBD in SP as examples). News outlets picked on it because it’s been slow news and Twitter ran with a dozen of memes. Of course our pop culture bubble would make a shitfest about it and even drag her, but to most brazilians it was a very warm saturday to enjoy and not think about Taylor Swift, much less make her the #1 enemy Edited November 19, 2023 by liquiddiamonds 1

While I agree on them postponing the show, they should have done it right after the poor little girl passed away and seeing the weather is not appropriate to hold a concert. No reason for waiting too long. I blame the production company for being @sssholes and not doing their job properly, which includes making sure people are safe. I don't know if Taylor is the one to blame this time around. I think Taylor also didn't want to postpone it right away. It's always complicated to mess with scheduling (stage logistics, crew's days off). I even think she was planning to head back to the USA and rest there until Thursday. And it really burdens the audience most of all. I think they tried to keep the show going on, but it got to a point yesterday where they weren't 100% sure to guarantee everyone's safety, especially since the Federal government demanded free water available in strategic points. And that was commanded only after noon. And when they were faced with the question: can we keep everyone as safe as possible? They couldn't say yes and postponed it.

liquiddiamonds Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 Just to add something that i didnt comment before: camping and waiting for hours in front of the stadium/arena is NOT brazilian culture. It’s STAN culture, perhaps only in Brazil idk. Only artists with huge stan bases and with parasocial relationship with fans face this particular issue: from Taylor to Bieber, to BTS to RBD, these were all teenage idols with a huge teen base that connected deeply with them. Also when they play stadiums these people fear only catching on a huge screen and not having a good glimpse of their idol. I never see this behavior in the indie, rap, electronic and rock concerts I’ve been. And many times the seats aren’ booked either. It’s just that audience has a different profile and stan behavior is non-existent. Even when people wanna get early to catch someone big at a festival it’s always different when the artist doesn’t have a young stan base. You can arrive minutes before the performance and you have good view. 2 1

Please stfu and keep you illness to yourself, turning everything into your own narrative when there are indisputable facts in here that got nothing to do where they are happening, and should absolutely be criticized and held accountable for the lack of human empathy. These are human beings that are continuously being subjected to inhumane conditions and even after the tragedy that happened, nothing changed from that side and Taylor's team had to singlehandedly attempt to carry the changes needed without the help of the actual party that was responsible for the situation that came to be, and made it worse by challenging and trying to stop her team from doing the right thing despite everything. Which first means that they didn't learn their lesson and that everything will be back to what is was instead of changing after she leaves. Therefore, yes it sucks for the fans and isn't fair at all after what they went through, but coming back and rewarding the trash organizers and everyone in charge by making them richer after their poor management and lack of taking responsibility is not right either. 5

Julia Fox Posted November 19, 2023 Posted November 19, 2023 I came to Brazil to see Lana, Florence and Sabrina on June and the country is a literal mess, police is corrupt, a lot of people homeless and a lot of danger zones and also a lot of people telling us to have caution because you could literally be killed in a taxi or passing down the street, like we were tourist and we wanted to have a good time and they just make us scared. Also Brazilian fans aren’t supportive enough because it’s not the first time someone died on a show. Back in time a lot of people died on a RBD show. its sad because the country is beautiful and offers a lot to the people that visit but they need to improve a lot and with this Taylor situation it shows

We have rich people here, as rich as Taylor. Its not a new concept. The only thing we have is car rotation in some major cities over pollution and car traffic in major avenues according to plaques and Taylor wouldn't be subjected to that.

And while I understand your projection says more about you than it does about me, for the record, I love Brazil and Brazilians. Like the politics on Brazil are just awful. Taylor didn’t came to Chile because we don’t have a stadium and the security needed to give a proper show with security to Taylor, her team and the fans so the production company stated that it wasn’t factual. Brazil would have know better but yeah, it’s all done now
