Yeah I'll have to use different methods in Excel for Hoenn rate.

What if instead of posting a list to copy and add scores than DM, the hosts just post a download link to an excel file or ask participants to make a copy of a google sheet. The file could have a prefilled template where the have to post just a number in one column and their comment in another. Should reduce mistakes from - X vs -X vs -Xcomment etc.

We could do 15 today (41-26)

15 on Thursday (25-11)

And save the Top 10 for Friday. (10-1)

It would conclude on December 22, 2023 right before Christmas. :date4:

Can you say a perfect evolution line? Can you say a clean ten average?

Can you say seizure warning? Can you say Eviolite & Recover tank? Can you say Tera Normal Adaptability +2 Hyper Beam?

Because it's not only bug excellence, its extremely cute, and an anime icon. Furthermore one of the first Pokemon to give fighting types a good image. Thank you Heracross for all your hard work :clap3:

The second generation of Pokémon introduced fans to a plethora of new creatures, each with its own unique qualities and strengths. However, one Pokémon that often finds itself in discussions about its ranking is Porygon2. Despite its interesting design and technological theme, some argue that Porygon2 may not deserve a spot in the top 40 of second-generation Pokémon.

  1. Lack of Iconic Appeal: One argument against Porygon2's inclusion in the top 40 is its lack of iconic appeal. Unlike other second-generation Pokémon that have become symbols of the era, Porygon2 doesn't evoke the same level of nostalgia or recognition. Pokémon like Thickorita, Togepi, and Heracross often take center stage in discussions about memorable second-gen creatures, leaving Porygon2 in the shadows.
  2. Limited Presence in Popular Media: Porygon2's limited presence in popular Pokémon media is another factor that detracts from its claim to a top-tier ranking. Unlike other Pokémon that have been featured prominently in movies, TV shows, and other merchandise, Porygon2 remains relatively obscure. This lack of exposure diminishes its overall impact and cultural significance within the Pokémon franchise.
  3. Competitive Viability Concerns: While Porygon2 boasts decent stats and a unique Normal-type movepool, its competitive viability may not be enough to secure a top 40 position. In a metagame dominated by powerful and versatile Pokémon, Porygon2 struggles to stand out. Its weaknesses, coupled with a limited movepool, make it a less appealing choice compared to other second-gen contenders that offer more diverse and potent strategies.
  4. Evolutionary Background: Porygon2's evolutionary background also raises questions about its standing in the second-generation hierarchy. As the evolved form of Porygon, a Pokémon that already failed to achieve widespread popularity, Porygon2 inherits a legacy that might not resonate with fans. Evolutionary significance often plays a role in determining a Pokémon's overall appeal, and Porygon2's lineage may be a hindrance in this regard.

While Porygon2 has its merits, including a unique design and interesting technological theme, it faces tough competition in the discussion of the top 40 second-generation Pokémon. Factors such as lack of iconic appeal, limited presence in popular media, concerns about competitive viability, and its evolutionary background all contribute to the argument that Porygon2 may not deserve a spot among the elite in the second generation. As fans continue to debate the rankings, Porygon2 remains a fascinating yet divisive choice in the ever-expanding world of Pokémon.

Points 1, 2, and 4 all boil down to Porygon having to take the fall for Seizer Gate. Like they needed a scapegogoat for Pikachu's Thundebolt light flash and who was it going to be? The most popular, recognized, literal mascot of the franchise or a mon only found in Celadon Casino locked behind an obscene amount of coins in its debut anime appearance. Game Freak ultimately didn't care and gave two more classic evos, but she could never be an anime icon or GP darling because of PR politics it's as simple as that.

Point 3 contradicts itself and also isn't factually correct. It only has one weakness, Fighting, and can learn several moves to counter. Movepool is pretty diverse: Psychic, Electric, Grass, Ice, Ghost, Bug (before they cancelled Signal Beam), a STAB move with 20% chance to Paralyze/Burn/Freeze, Recover support, access to Eviolite. For a middle stage Gen 2 mon with very few buffs over the years it can hold its own!

Oh, Porygon2, the middle child of evolution, forever stuck in a forgettable phase. It boasts about its 'diverse' movepool, but let's not mistake quantity for quality. It's like a buffet of mediocrity – Psychic, Electric, Grass, Ice – an assortment of flavors, none of them particularly appetizing.

And let's not pretend that Eviolite is a badge of honor. It's the equivalent of putting training wheels on a tricycle – cute, but it won't help when the big kids come around. Fighting-type weakness? That's like saying a paper bag is resistant to water – sure, until you face a real challenge.

Recover support? That's adorable. While Porygon2 is busy trying to patch itself up, the heavy hitters are delivering knockout blows. In the grand scheme of Pokémon battles, Porygon2 is like bringing a calculator to a gaming console tournament – outdated, outmatched, and completely out of its league. It's time to upgrade or fade into digital obscurity.

Europeans don’t give ratings tbh, but ironically y’all are probably the most dedicated fanbase. There’s just more American participants I guess

Or maybe Gen 2 is just a talented generation and no one cared for the fugly Gen 1 mons

Also there’s the fact @Hey Dude is managing the reveals very well and we’re going at a great pace.

Ironically they were a big reason Gen 9’s rate was a snailfest but I digress cause they’re stomping this time
