Did he definitely mean the album and not the song? Because the song is terrible but the album is alright. I think it would be more acceptable saying you don't like one song but you love some others. If he really did tell her he doesn't like the entire album then that's so mean

She did evolve. It was Witness, which was panned commercially and critically and people complained about it being different, so she went back to what worked.
