Tate and Dua are killing it with electronic music, why?

A popular narrative on ATRL is that electronic music holds no interest from the GP anymore and that it will never have any popularity again, yet… Greedy and Houdini, two of the hottest songs from the girls right now both have very clear electronic influences: the former seems influenced by the Timbaland sound while the latter has 80s electronica plastered all over it.

There’s also been other songs like Miley’s River that have a electronic direction.

Is electropop back? Are the gays finally winning again?

If we are boiling down '' electronic music '' to any pop music that has electronic and dance music influences then I don't think electronic music ever left from the mainstream. Disco and D'n'B/Breakbeats have become pretty recognizable trends, though.

So you’re saying electronic music has never left the mainstream? Oh wow… snobby ATRLers lost. What a win this is today for me and all the reputation TV stans

Mainstream pop has had electronic influences for decades. These songs don’t break the mould at all.

Electronic influences and pop music go hand in hand for nearly 60 years now, from vocoders to bass lines. But featuring synthesizers in your music, doesn't make it electronica. Nearly every modern, non-acoustic song has them in one way or another.

Lana has been consistently among the top streamed women of the year and WWIMF was the most viral song of the summer, so no

Nothing wrong with having several genres & types of music dominating at once

OT: Both songs are more in the dance-pop range rather than electronic but it's great to see them smash. Finally some quality pop songs doing well this year:clap3:
