Forget Madonna & The Beatles, has Taylor surpassed Ed Sheeran?

Recommended Posts

Now that we've declared that Ed Sheeran is indeed bigger than even THE BEATLES, at least in the UK, it appears we have a new baseline to compare against!

So, let's discuss...is it time to admit that Taylor has even surpassed Ed Sheeran?

Now the Swifties can whine and cry about it all they want but it's facts with evidence and STATS from official charts to back up all the claims that Taylor isn't on Ed Sheeran's level of hits outside of Anglosphere and she's not even on par with Adele in terms of album sales and HITS in the same territories. All they care about is that she's massive in the US and Australia :toofunny3:

Like, do they do their proper research?

Sidenote: Ed Sheeran is also right behind Michael Jackson in Germany in overall sales and Taylor is N/A on the all-time list there as well  And Lady Gaga and Rihanna are on the all-time list too but who cares about Germany, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Nigeria, Brazil, Greece and Japan when she's massive in the US :toofunny3:

At this point seeing that they make a thread about Taylor's OWN LABEL proclaiming she somehow sold 3.5 million units around the world with no official stats to back it up and they just celebrate makes me think that if her label proclaimed her to have gone #1 on another planet in another galaxy they'd wholeheartedly start believing that

It's not 2017 anymore. Ed Sheeran is already becoming more of a legacy touring act than a relevant artist while being a year younger than Taylor.

Regardless of Ed's global peak, those Nigerians, Finns, Italians, and Japanese people didn't support Ed enough for his last 2 albums this year while 1989(TV) is streaming and selling in every part of the world rn.

Also, Justin Bieber is more globally famous than both of them worldwide but Bieber still drops bloated and mid albums carried by playlisting to this day and I'd rank Taylor over him anyday of the week. Ya'll really overrate the importance of being "global." It's also why the discourse around Janet Jackson is so garbage too("sHE's nOT fAMouS iN mY CouTRy sO sHE's nOT iMPacTFul!!").

By sheer stats she’s not as successful as Michael and Madonna, mariah is like a sneak here. And her fame, legacy and impact is beneath a lot more people

I agree about most of what you wrote but the last part about Janet Jackson. Janet is extremely impactful and even though she wasn't bigger than her peers (Madonna, Whitney, Mariah, Celine) in most countries outside of the US doesn't change that she was and is an absolute icon. That said, the only reason these "Swift is not as big here and there" statements are made (and you seem to agree) is that the Swifties are claiming she's rivaling the Beatles and bigger than Madonna or the new MJ and all that which is what causes these counter-arguments. If the Swifties just took it down a notch and admitted "yes, she's super massive, could outsell Madonna in the US but she's not as big in Europe, Asia and Latin America so she's obviously not the new MJ on a global scale" then those remarks and posts and threads that counter-argument this wouldn't be made.

You only have 198 posts on this website and yet 90% of them are about Taylor, someone you clearly don't like. Are you ok?

Bigger in albums, singles, touring, longevity and acclaim. Please.

The only thing Ed has on Taylor is that Divide is bigger than any of her albums and that Perfect and Shape of You are bigger than any of her singles, but in total she’s bigger. Things won’t change either as his latest album barely even went #1 in UK and only charted for 2-3 weeks in most countries (including for only 2 in US) as Taylor shattered records even outside the anglosphere this very week.

I'm afraid she doesn't have the range. Heidi could write Anti-Hero, but Taylor couldn't write Superficial.

During Gaga's peak, the same exact claims were made. People said that Gaga would overtake Madonna, MJ, and the Beatles too.

Whether it's true or not, these are normal responses that get made when an artist is at their peak.

Hell, remember when articles like this used to be made?
