HEAVYONIT Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Looks like Meg played a major contribution into Bongos’ first-week numbers. Surprised? 1 1 1
Kayseri Mantisi Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Embarrassment of rap lost again. Now I wonder what Bongos would've done without Megan she's truly over. 2 6
Take Me Apart Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 (edited) Bongos was a huge mistake all around Cardi success poison confirmed?? Edited November 4, 2023 by Take Me Apart
fijitears Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 And some ***** had the nerve to blame the floppage on Meg…Where are they now? ******* are silent 1
Kiss It Better Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 WAP was also a success because of Megan coming off her successful #1 song with the Queen Bey, Savage Remix
Popular Post Dreajae Posted November 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2023 I'm not here for Megan being used as a pawn by Cardi or Nicki stans. It was always clear that Megan was the master of her own success and hype. She simply never had the proper label backing to sell and stick as well as other girls. And yet she's still sold over 30 million records. 24 4
Mornings Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Lmaoo would Winston lie about the “basically equal” performance? and why wouldn’t two subpar female rap songs perform similarly? Maybe Nicki would have used Meg for bombs away
Truth Teller Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 NOT digital sales Bongos did better on streaming. Not to take away from Megan doing so well with a song about depression and suicidal ideation Anyway. Cardi and Megan have a similar audience. The people that would tune in for a Cardi release are similar to the people that would tune in for a Megan release. Hot Sh*t also did better numbers than Bongos. People just didn't like Bongos and that's that. 3

Top 5 on iTunes, only one version, top 15 on AM, and the highest solo female rap debut on YouTube. Songs about depression and suicide ideation aren't poised to do nearly as well as a dance track primed for radio and playlisting. So clearly yall are trying to take something away. After insisting that Megan was riding other folks wave. The receipts are there and I'm not here for either group downplaying it. Edited November 4, 2023 by Dreajae 3
Johnny Jacobs Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 What made people think Savage wasn't a fluke?

Female rap has turned into a gimmick where either you have to have a bimbo aesthetic and/or go pop/crossover to be successful. Female rappers used to have great success doing hip hop and a more tomboy aesthetic. Now it’s like you have to show off your body, have to make pop records, and have to show off your looks to be known well before your lyrics. Megan is a great rapper, despite not having a diverse flow. With that being said, Megan has a great career, there are just too many pop fans playing in hip hop now and have pop standards for traditional hip hop artist which plagues the fruitfulness of one’s career. Even the City Girls are doing fine in hip hop. 1 minute ago, Shaner69 said: What is Bongos? What Megan’s back shots feel like. 1
