Christina’s case is interesting/weird in that she has been part of several enormously important conversations, yet her legacy feels devoid of prestige.

She just doesn’t feel hugely important, even though she’s released some fantastic projects and is one of the defining post-Whitney/Mariah voices in Pop music.

She does have a legacy as part of the late 90s teen pop craze, and as an iconic vocalist. But she could have had a truly legendary career with different/better choices, which makes me sad.

She is probably the biggest Mandela effect in the music. Artists like Gaga, Katy, Lana, Avril or Rihanna have a bigger legacy than her and even artists like Ariana, Miley, Billie and Dua Lipa feel bigger than her in the music industry.

Yet the person on your gif gave her compliments she rarely gave to other singers.

Aguilera might not be the perfect vocalist nor have the perfect discography (it's so inconsistent) but she made part of some pop staples thats for sure, the 35 year old plus crowd that loves big voiced ballads and cuntiness wont let her be forgotten, i think that counts as a legacy until this audience dies.

OP How old are you? Xtina was very famous back then and she is cited by many younger vocalist for inspiration I am far from being her fan but idk why this forum thinks tour and music sales = legacy when it's the opposite of that! 

I know Xtina is not liked by many but you guys pretend she has nothing on her peers like be real please especially people like me who grew up seeing 2000s.

Even if you take a random flop song from Britney like Criminal, it's performing better than Christina's entire discography, just 20k streams behind Christina's most popular song. Christina has three songs doing at least 100k a day while Britney has like 17-18.

 

Keep in mind that how you feel about your fave is a personnal feeling and not the reality.

Xtina did have an amazing run, we can't that away from her, but maybe she was never big enough to resist so well the test of time. Most of her (solo) songs seem to be forgotten and gen z is not showing a lot of interest. That said, I don't think she's doing that much worse than most artists from the time. It's just that her fans always compared her to Britney, so when her songs feel much smaller than classics like Toxic or Baby, she just feels smaller by comparison.
