Can we close this childish thread and block those that think Taylor dates men for album cycles?

It’s misogyny.

its a pop culture forum. no one thought matty was a PR relationship.

You know absolutely nothing about Taylor because she has spoken since Day 1 about how she -never- fit into the “popular” clique in high school and it’s part of what made her girl squad in 1989 so surreal to her, she had never been the popular girl and she doesn’t lean in to that trope at all.

hell, Her FIRST album literally has MULTIPLE songs about trying to find your place in the world as an outsider :rip:

Which is why she’s always playing into the fantasy of it now. What part do you need help comprehending?

she's literally promoting all of those :deadbanana:

Oh honey. If you called that promoting, then you haven't been paying attention. Like, are you born yesterday?

Its 2023 and people still think Taylor dating for PR?

I have trust in her music, i dont think fake emotion can generate those songs.

And she doesnt need any more fame in 2023.

No I understand what you’re trying to imply, it’s just false. Taylor pretty much always writes from the perspective of an outsider.

A lone teenage girl trying to make it in Nashville (debut)

A songwriter trying to prove that she CAN write on her own without others help like critics insinuated at the time (Speak Now)

A country girl moving to the big city and trying to reinvent herself (1989)

The LITERAL “perceived” villain of the world (reputation)

etc

Like, You’re On your Own, Kid is one of her most recent songs and she sings about not fitting in at parties because she has bigger aspirations. What about that “plays into the fantasy” you’re claiming?

She’s too lazy to do a single interview or film one music video for 1989 TV .

Do you really think she would spend hundred of hours on a fake relationship?

Also nfl fans have been hating on the relationship and her from day one since they hate the chiefs for winning two superbowls.

Let the good sis get good d*ck without becoming conspiracy theorists.

Well, music videos for cruel summer and 1989tv single for starters. And maybe a social media post recognizing the success of the Eras Tour movie, for starters.

Performing in awards shows, perhaps.

She can write all the relatable lyrics she wants. Her actions in real life show otherwise. She hasn’t been a teenage girl in how long? She’s not having lunch alone in the bathroom today. She’s not “trying to make it” today. She’s not the weird outcast at parties today; but what we are getting is her and these relationships, and her different Avengers cliques since 2014, plastered everywhere like flyers on walls. Unless you can prove that’s not the case, where is this conversation going?

Yes but I think they're both enjoying it beyond PR reasons :fan:

Ed already spilled the tea about those little popularity contests they be having regarding who sells the most records, and you’re telling me she doesn’t play into a trope. I have to laugh.

sis its 2023. not these dinosaur ass marketing tactics. no one cares about award shows or youtube, and no one cared about a taylor video since.. look what you made me do 6 years ago? most of her new videos are struggling to hit 50M :deadbanana:

for the eras movie, she already plastered the trailers everywhere

and she dropped cruel summer remixes at the right timing

relationships just catapult your celebrity to an even higher level. pop forum users should know this play. see the Senorita singers :chick1:

What exactly are you arguing? You’re claiming that she leans into the fantasy of “being a popular girl” (you claimed she ALWAYS has, which is verifiably untrue) but … literally nothing about her does that. MAYBE the original 1989 era at best with the girl squad? But that’s negated by the fact she walked around TALKING about how that was a new and unreal experience for her, not gloating and bragging as if it was something others should try to attain.

Like, folklore and evermore were her as a grandma in isolation in the woods. Midnights is her hazily sleepwalking through memories of her past while processing the death of a 7 year relationship. These characteristics weren’t only present in the music but also in her public presentation.

She’s not out modeling for Victoria’s Secret and posing for magazine covers. She hasn’t done these things since the 1989 era. Those are the only things that could even be “perceived” as her playing into the popular girl fantasy and they are basically 9-10 years old. so I just don’t really see where you imply she leans into the fantasy of being a “popular” girl

What she may or may not do in private has no bearing on what you’re insinuating. She does not use her public persona to lean into the imagery of being a popular girl, and the only time you’d maybe have a case would be the original 1989 era a decade ago. One era out of 10 (14 if you count rerecordings) isn’t really a favorable statistic for you.

It's one thing to get into a relationship for PR reasons, and another to use that relationship to boost your popularity. And I think Taylor and Travis fall in the second category. I don't think their representatives said "go date this person", but they sure are using it as an opportunity to generate discussion and traffic about them.

This may be it

Since when she wants to she can be very secretive. She wants everybody to know about this

Posted

Hopefully they’re not. They look Hot Together.

but at least she would write an album about him, if it wouldn’t work

Yes, Travis is the reason she's on the biggest tour in music history, Cruel Summer is smashing and Midnights has sold 6M in a year.

The question isn't does Taylor Swift need a PR relationship. The question is if she is in one with Travis.

I honestly think the dating pool for Taylor Swift is small. There aren't many men that would be handle the pressures of her fandom, career, etc. Travis was already a super bowl winner and they seem to understand each other's work ethic/schedule.

I think it would be irresponsible for Taylor Swift to date anyone publicly if they weren't aware of the effects it would have on every part of their life. I think the two of them are currently both using the attention they are getting to their favor. But I don't think they are specifically together for that reason. I honestly think they might have been talking before and figured out a way to come out publicly about it.

Oh definitely. She really needs a PR boost, uh? It's not like she becomes a headline just for walking in the streets of NYC.

the relationship could be real but both are def milking it for sure

Of course she does. Making a headline for stepping outside in NYC is not promoting her album.
