This whole thing is just to show that Selena didn't learn a damn thing during the Hailey Bieber drama :dies:

How many times is she going to say she's on her "social media break" every time she's involved in a messy situation that causes damage to her reputation and actually starts logging out of her account and creating a burner account to satisfy her chronically online ass?

She is right and she should say it. I hope the people telling her to "speak up" are out there fighting or donating.

Oh honey she is wrong for obvious reason. People dragging her not because she has to speak about the conflict (although she kinda has to considering she's ******* UNICEF ambassador), she gets caught for liking a Zionist racist post :deadbanana4:

She takes more breaks from social media than anyone else, and yet is somehow always still online

The problem is that news organizations (and politicians) are generally paid to be slanted in one way or another. Celebrities are essentially the last remaining influential figures that, while generally being completely uninformed and trend-hopping, can still make a bit of difference with public sentiment.

What difference can a celebrity make in this instance…

It’s a very delicate situation also for celebrities let’s just say that because as some users on this site prove you can just say “I don’t want innocent Israeli people to be killed” and people will say you’re supporting the state of Israel or you say “I don’t want innocent Palestinian citizens to be killed” and people say you’re pro-Hamas.
It’s really not as black-and-white as people make it out to be. Thank god those people are just a loud minority.

A UNICEF ambassador should not be neutral in the face of genocide. She needs to step down from her position if that’s how she truly feels

okay i’ll tell her that

So ya’ll wanna act like Palestine is the only one losing innocent lives? there’s kids in Israel too being offed due to this pointless war. Taking sides in a war is inhumane. We should all be advocating for peace on both sides.

I mean she’s right in a way….for people harassing their mutuals with 200 followers, not THEE most followed Instagram account and a literal billionaire.

She’s so insufferable and grating, how she made it this far into her career is a miracle.

i've JUST saw a hate tweet with +50k likes being made by a swiftie

and i know the account, it's not a setup. it is truly a swiftie

make it make sense... please.

i love taylor and i don't even think her relationship is PR, she's just enjoying a good D and living her life while on break from her tour.

But how do her fans are hypocritical enough to make hate posts about Selena and being silent about her fave that is literally one of the biggest and most impactful artist the world has ever seen and is currently without a care ignoring this issue?

Her post WON'T STOP THE WAR. This social media thing just turned into a fan war over the ones who will be canceled or not. It would be better if she didn't said anything, but anyway do she really cares? She will be fine and what she said is exactly what GP thinks, so she will be fine. Stan twitter can say what they want, no one cares.

I don't think the issue is about being vocal or being silent, rather saying stupid things.

Taylor's never vocal about anything, minus exceptions (like US elections), she never does activism via social media, she sticks to donating privately and people find out, usually. On the other hand, Selena's IG is full of posts about mental health, she has spoken about war in Ukraine, march for our lives, is a Unicef ambassador etc., and people are rightfully dragging her because rather than urging people to donate or raise awareness she spoke about her heart breaking due to seeing her sister who is those kids' age.

Calling Putin's actions "people dying, destroyed cities [..] due to one man's greed"

Sharing links to donate for Ukraine, saying Unicef is doing things for Ukrainian children

Saying something along the lines of "March for Our Lives isn't just a hashtag"

and then now it's her heart that's breaking but she can't do anything about it?

Being ignorant shouldn't be an excuse (since we're talking about millionaires/billionaires), but sadly many, most of them are, the least they can do is shut up if the best they can do is make it about themselves. Hell I think even just posting "Praying for children in Gaza and Israel" would've been a better netrual stance compared to what she decide to say: that she's taking a break because she can't handle it. I bet those people risking lives are also heartbroken and scared but they can't log off and go to a basketball match.

I still don’t care about Palestine. It’s also a place where being gay is forbidden and you could even get killed for it. The only downside is that innocent people are dying. Same as Ukraine. Which is still happening. Remember the Ukraine media coverage? Did it stop any wars? I’m not saying that showing compassion is wrong, of course, use your platform, but when it comes to wars ANY posts will NOT pressure the leaders of those countries or stop them in any way. Grow up

Being gay isn't "forbidden in Palestine" because Palestine doesn't have statehood. It's decriminalized in the West Bank and while punishable by law (with prison, not death, they do not have Sharia law, READ A BOOK) in the Gaza strip, it's not enforced. They're a little preoccupied...

"The only downside is that people are dying" is a crazy thing to say.

Israel is a homophobic country anyway. They don't even have gay marriage and most of the population is against legalizing it. Just so we're clear.

This. People are downvoting this cause Twitter already determinate that Palestine is the victim of the war, and people who don't have any critic sense only wants to go with what Twitter think it's the right thing. Aside the innocent lives, should i really show compassion for the ones who would throw me from a building just because i'm gay? I pray for the children and the ones who are pure of heart and soul.

She's so obsessed with making herself look like a victim at any given chance. "I'm sorry", girl, be serious.

For someone who is literally the most followed woman on Instagram, Selena loves to downplay the influence of social media, doesn't she? Not the first time she says something in the lines of "hashtags won't save lives!" in a condescending tone. She perceives herself to be above social media discourse, but you can tell she completely lacks depth. The irony of it all.
