She’ll be back when a new rare beauty drop is announced

Posted

It's easy as that: social media is playing a major role right now, especially for those living in the west, almost everybody with a platform is on Israel's side, from our politicians to news outlets, reason why it is extremely important for us to go out of our way and find reliable sources to educate ourselves about the genocide, and sadly, there are still many people that won't go out of their way to do it because they're ignorant or simply don't care, and that's where these celebrities can be useful, did y'all even see the amount of press Bella and Gigi Hadid got? You can not say they didn't have any impact with their posts and activism, because it would simply be untrue.

As for Selena, finding a way to make herself the victim in every situation is the only talent she has. One of her best friends has been insulting and shaming Gigi Hadid on Instagram for her support towards Palestine and actively promoting Israel, I wonder if poor little thing managed to talk to her - assuming she cares one bit - or her heart breaks too much. She should've stayed silent because she clearly doesn't know how to handle important topics, nothing wrong with accepting your own ignorance if you can make more damage.

This whole scenario is a glimpse into celebrity “activism.” When a star champions a cause, it's not an act of bravery, it’s a calculated move. Take the mid-2010s, for instance; supporting BLM was dicey for celebs (cue the backlash Beyoncé faced for the pro-black stance in Lemonade). Only in the early 2020s did it become "mainstream." Consider Selena's stance on BLM back then (sidestepping the issue) versus now, where she not only embraces it but goes the extra mile. The same narrative unfolds in the Palestine/Israel dilemma – celebrities vocal about not staying silent are ironically hushed. Selena Gomez here exemplifies that these stars, our faves, are essentially marionettes, and our response should be wary. Even when they do champion a cause, don't put them on a pedestal; it's all part of the act.

What about the 1,400 thousand people that died in Israel after the Hamas launched the attacks? Or about the ones that were taken prisoners in Gaza? Why is it all about Palestine as if others have not died? You picking sides is one thing, but to imply that Palestine’s situation is a bigger tragedy than the people that also died in Israel is sick. That goes to show who you really are if you only care about one’s life but not the other’s. It is a war!

war
/wɔː/

noun
  1. a state of armed conflict between different countries or different groups within a country.
    "Japan declared war on Germany"

You’re missing the point again. Also, I didn’t once said I support what Hamas did. However, it is wrong to justify it as a war and not speak out when one party is so defenseless against the other. Israel have control over every aspect of the Gaza Strip. So how can it be a war when there is such an unequal power behind both parties.

Also, as I sympathize for the 1,400 lives, we have lost 8k+ Palestinians lives thus far that mainly comprises of innocent children and women. We are getting reports of bombing schools, churches and hospitals. The only hospital that focuses on cancer…

how can that be justifiable by any means? How am I picking a side by saying that is wrong? By saying we need awareness for these issues?

it’s speaks to your character for just dismissing this as a “war” as if both parties are equally fighting back or has equal support.

Why is it every time there’s a global issue like this people demand that every celebrity speaks up, but when they do they attack them. Selena is a singer, she’s not going to change anything no matter what she says.

If only people put this effort into pressuring their local politicians, people who ACTUALLY have power in making a change, then maybe we would get somewhere

This all started when she liked Amy posts on ig….

The fact that y’all are gay and would get killed for it in Palestine, but you choose to support them…. Disturbing to watch how many people are brainwashed!

Again, you need to educate yourself. Also, right now, being Palestinian will be grounds to be killed….

let’s focus on their right to their sexuality when their right to life is secured please.

Exactly, even trying to insinuate that we should not care about all the deaths these innocent children and women because the country has a poor human rights track record as it regards to sexuality is INSANE

Very western white supremacist mind, a step in building a point view of “nations that don’t like us we should have them cleansed off of the planet” and the only countries left standing barely like queer people too ??? just stupid and ignorant like mind you majority of Gaza population are CHILDREN they don’t have a moral standing on anything bc they are CHILDREN TRYING TO NOT GET KILLED.

I love Selena but she has a huge platform and spreading awareness can help the situation.

This is not an issue exclusive to Palestine but the larger Muslim world. It’s not like the US and Europe easily accepted gay rights overnight either.  Do we need to remind you of the fight that took place for that to happen? Stop making yourself the victim here.

What work during war time? Just because she doesn’t tell you, you think that she’s not helping the ones affected?

She’s not a unicef ambasador to change the world during wars. Stop with this narrative!

Then why is she a unicef ambassador, spell it out for me quickly!

From the unicef website itself

Ambassadors volunteer their time to raise awareness and mobilize support, helping UNICEF to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents with lifesaving help and hope.

You sound stupid and dense. Just say you’re islamaphobic and move on
