This is not 2012 where music videos were huge and they were investing half of their campaign on music videos and live performances ( see Katy Perry ) 

 

Now all that matters is radio , Spotify,  AM and TikTok 

 

The video is perfect for tiktokers and influencers ( dancers and not ) to copy paste and to make it huge 

 

If there were fireballs and dragons Dua cutting a person in half in a box nobody ( serious ) would do that stuff 

i truly don't get it. and i've been complaining about her minimalist aesthetic for weeks now LOL. it's pretty hard to pull off a magic themed MV without coming off campy and tacky (which really ISN'T the energy of this song at all and ISN'T Dua's thing really).

 

and Because first of all, i do NOT trust Dua's team to pull that sh*t off. it would need to be sophisticated and slinky to actually match the actual mood of this song. it would've been what.. another break my heart-esque visual with Zatanna cosplay? another Physical/BMH-level budget and direction is, personally, a no for me.  granted there are other minimalist concepts they could have done other than an insular dance studio feel, but im sure it was obvious they'd need to NOT do something CGI heavy again after all the FN videos if they are stripping it back and going for grit this time
