FOCK Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Nintendo has a patent filed for an apparent dual-screen console that can be split in half and become two separate handheld devices. The recent Nintendo patent looks an awful lot like a 3DS, but the device can be split in half. The two separate halves can communicate with each other wirelessly, allowing two gamers to play together on the same device. While connected, the two halves play together like a DS or 3DS. Interestingly enough, there is also a touchscreen on the outside of the console, which allows gamers to interact with the handheld even when it's closed. Also interesting to note, the device appears to be a handheld-only device. x 1
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted October 29, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted October 29, 2023 Interesting, but Nintendo often files patents that don't actually turn in to actual hardware down the line. (They just cover their bases, just in case.) So we'll have to wait and see if this ever actually appears
Revolution Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 how does this work if the control stick is only on one of them ?

loveisdead9582 Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 So is it like a switch except that the bottom half is the controller? I can’t imagine that it would split into two and allow two players to use one device. That would cut into their profits if one device could service two people.
LCTV Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 Watch them make us buy the game twice for that option!
