vale9001 Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 This critic wrote a piece where he explains he was wrong about his 3 stars to 1989 and the album deserves 5/5 calling it a magnum opus. https://www.ft.com/content/44c4ae65-9de9-4f5d-a56e-6bb4facd3ff2 What pop album or album in general was underrated in the past and would be more acclaimed now?. Discuss.

DatChickDoe Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Wide Open Spaces by The Dixie Chicks was critically panned by places like Entertainment Weekly when it came out. The magazine I mentioned gave it an upgrade to a positive review later on.

Støned Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Loose - 71 in Metacritic is too low. It deserves an 85 at least.
Funnyfatty Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 After Artpop went viral 2 years ago i remember reading all those positive critics about it and i was shook. Artpop is a very good album imo and deserves all the praise. That 0 for Born This Way shouldn’t be accepted imo can’t believe such clownery was allowed. 1
visions Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 On average, all of them. But it will always be apparent that the scoring is heavily based on trends and reputation more than genuinely innovative “quality” music.
LosingHimWasBlue Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Teenage dream deserved at least score 60, not 51 Born this way was so cringe, so deserved the point. 2
OrgVisual Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Literally everything released before 2015 cuz critics were so harsh on pop before Loud, Teenage Dream, PRISM, The Fame, Loose, Bday, etc.

Having said this, all these albums and 99% of other albums that haven't been mentioned would be acclaimed now 2
