Virtual_Insanity Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 I actually forgot this song existed but it is possible it popular with the older radio audience as opposed to the streaming crew ?
Kyle-x Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Radio is trying to bring the gospel to the people
Diet Pepsi Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 my Granny loves the song so the older audience is carrying it since they can relate
Armani? Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Surprised it's even getting 6M streams with those stats
Cheers Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 My grandma loves this song! Old people are stanning the lyrics.
Selegend Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) there's 2 reasons i guess 1 is payola! that columbia is doing very very well for ESV. and 2 is old MAGA kind of people are the ones that truly likes this song, and they're not that relevant on streaming. it's a shame tho cuz i love 'river' and 'jaded' and i can't stand 'flowers' and 'used to be young' and flowers was the smash and UTBY the radio hit. HEAVYONIT Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 This sounds just like a few other songs recently

ariesgroove Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 she really has adult contemporary in a chokehold this era with flowers jaded and utby so not shocked tbh. justice for river though! 1
wish Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Miley and Selena both picked two of their worst songs to be pushed heavily on radio. It's so frustrating to stan them sometimes 4
Nightingale Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 For me personally it’s not a song I’d go out of my way to listen to but it’s not a song I’d turn off if it came on. Wonder if others feel the same

naval23 Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) The way she was radio POISON the 10 years before "Flowers" - two top 20 hits with "Wrecking Ball" at #4 and We Can't Stop at #15 and became a radio darling in 2023 is insane Edited October 22, 2023 by naval23 4
perpetual novice Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 i don't think there's such a thing as 'radio hits' tbh, this song is there because the label took the radio execs out on some nice dinners and had it put there. not super related to this topic i guess but the way radio is playlisted is so archaic and out of touch with consumption it's wild that billboard count them so heavily into their chart points. radio is always propping up songs that fewer people are actually listening to. 1 1

I guess songs with highly positive callout scores could be considered “radio hits”
unclefloprry Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Columbia and payola? wow I'm veeeeery surprised
