youresotoxic Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 as someone said, it's a job... they can quit or stop whenever they choose to or when their record deal is up
satellites.™ Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 They shouldn't unless of course they want to. Some become musical legends in their late 30's and 40's like Whitney, Barbra, Beyonce, Madonna, Celine, Mariah. Some become global icons and then move onto family life or another venture: Rihanna, Janet, J.Lo, Xtina, Britney. Some remain popular among their generations of audience and do their thing on tv and awards shows, etc: Kesha, Paula Abdul, Cyndi Lauper, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Salt N Peppa. There is always work. 1
Miley Cyrus Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I think 50 is pretty good to retire as a recording artist. There’s tons to do afterwards where you can fall back on your catalog and do a residency and tour, sponsorships, etc. it’s endless really.
Selegend Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) any age they want, they can stay forever active for all i care but when i think what i would like for myself if i was an artist or what i would imagine for my faves i feel 40 is an interesting age to stop with the constant releasing and start making bigger gaps between releases and +55 to basically stop making new albums and just turn into a catalog artist. edit: just googled and kylie is 55, so i change to 60. most are stopping the constant release in their 25-35 tho Edited October 20, 2023 by Selegend
barbiegrande Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 (edited) How old was Rihanna when she retired Edited October 20, 2023 by barbiegrande 2
Blue Jeans Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Whenever they run out of creative ideas and energy. But really whenever they want to. They got bills to pay and maintain expensive lifestyle from the good times. No one likes to downsize
ScorpiosGroove Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 once the music’s bad, they can’t perform/sing well anymore and start acting cringe

Mitsouko Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 If you're still an active, curious, creative, stimulated, inspired, searching, interested, experimenting, involved artist, then carry on even if you bomb or serve mess at your big age! If you're creatively bankrupt and can't come up with anything except reheated rehashes of past successes or lazy cash grabs, then retire *****.

wxvii Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 If you had a career peak between the ages of 17-24, I’d say give it up around 45. If you peaked at ages 25-30, you should give it up around mid 50s.
.Odyssey. Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Madonna is showing with her current tour that the creative energy is still there and she's 65 so...never? 5 5
pisuke Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Whenever one feels like it. If you are an artist, you die being one. If you take it solely as a job, then whenever you think you have reach your goal, save up enough to retire. 2
Punky Rooster Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Once you have to record jazz cover albums or Christmas albums
ithinkheknowsoutsold Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Never, my fave's 55 and still dropping bangers, serving looks, and being the gays' sweetheart. The world would be so much duller without her!
levi_valvi Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 three consecutive flop albums and you're out
