I think the right title for this thread is “Is capitalism getting ridiculous at this point?”.

And the answer is YES.

This is why it’s time to end class society already.

I’m starting to consider youtube premium as well… I use adblock on my computer but it’s now showing something for like 5 secs saying it doesn’t allow adblock and i have to skip it which is the same as waiting for an ad :gaycatx:

i hate that these greedy ass companies always win… it’s so frustrating.

when netflix announced that password thing, I thought their numbers would go down but they actually INCREASED, it’s insane.

Youtube premium has really got me in its greedy little clutches :deadbanana2: One of the most expensive streaming thing too and it's dumb cause technically it's free but ARGH the ads the ads the ads I SCREAM!!! Still have to put up with grifting influencers shilling their wares in videos nonetheless now, god knows I'm on the cusp of buying some god damn athletic greens. (mercifully they don't ship to my country anyway, despite apparently being made here :rip:)

The issue is young people don’t know how to pirate as it is knowledge that is dying.

I feel like we never really stopped pirating in 3rd world countries, but yeah, the subscription model so many industries are now following is totally predatory.

YES. The way subscription culture has taken over EVERY aspect of our lives in insane. It's annoying, invasive and it's the new way for billion dollar corporations to make even more $$$ of us.

Ive been in an 80s mood lately and watching 80s movies but for some reason there so little of it on streaming. I can only find them for rent on Amazon Prime. Sigh

Yeah I only pay for Spotify for convenience, everything else is pirated.

I canceled most of my steaming apps except for Amazon, Hulu and Peacock.

Subscriptions for everything. A few years ago it was great. People pirated less because it was easy to just pay a monthly fee and consume what you want. But now almost everything is a subscription, even cars. Yes, some new cars have a subscription to access features that used to be standard or added bonuses you can buy. It’s annoying when I may need a software like Adobe or Microsoft office but features are in a subscription when you used to be able to just buy it upfront.

The other issue is the quality is declining while the prices are going up. But peoples wages are stagnating and real necessities are more expensive in comparison to incomes. People will just pirate more. The issue is young people don’t know how to pirate as it is knowledge that is dying.

I use LibreOffice instead of Word/Excel on my personal computer, and honestly it is great. It is a completely free word substitute and you don't have to keep paying for Microsoft services. It is also compatible with word files.
