Have you ever had your 'oh, that's not-' moment?

Me and my boss were bitching about a client (he's a tool - super well off and only has 'friends' because he has money, also super socially awkward which I assume to be a bit of neurodivergence) and it was all shits and giggles until I said "oh, yeah, *name* is autistic as ****" and she shot me down because her partner is autistic. I didn't mean it in a bad way but my tone of voice made it sound like an insult. I was so embarrassed.

I feel this so much. I once made similar joke about someone being morbidly obese which of course wasn’t the case but outside gay lingo no one uses fat/skinny terms like we do and I said that to someone who also isn’t the skinniest too so it was very embarrassing silence

Last week I went bowling with a few of my friends for a uni society event and we met this gorgeous British-Chinese guy who, while great at bowling and being a physics major, was incredibly immature. On our way back to our place via Canal Street he put up his hand in front of the 'C' to show how it spelled out Anal Street and he thought that was the height of comedy, not even one of us chuckled. His corniness continued all the way back home, and we went to see one of my flatmates' friend's place.

There we met up with the flatmates and one of the girls there was named Saffron. The guy looked at me when she mentioned her name and said, 'Hey isn't there an Indian terrorist group named Saffron or something?' and I said I was not Indian, and I kid you not the girl actually said 'Oh that's not-'. That guy was really flustered for a moment, and he ended up leaving shortly afterwards.

Spoiler

I still got his Instagram though :-*

I'm an immigrant in Germany and I asked my Asian coworker how she learned German. She said "I am German I was born here".

oh-thats-not-in-the-sense-that.gif

BUT a few weeks before that I asked her where she's from and she said she's FROM Vietnam not that she's Vietnamese so... And I asked that because she has a very American accent in English.

At work we always buy a cake when it's someone's birthday. My coworkers bought one for mine and asked if I was turning 30 and I said "thank god I'm not that old yet", jokingly cause I turned 29 and it's not that far but people didn't take it very well since half of the people there are over 30 yo

She was trying to make a point against Trump's anti-immigrant policies by pointing out how the Latinos he's trying to force out serve the country in different ways and he's benefitting off them by making them do laborious tasks, but she chose the worst example of that and worded it terribly.
