Youtube has lost their minds and we are enterting the dark ages

It's annoying and sucks, but some of you are doing the most. You can still watch for free, just have to deal with a bunch of ads. :deadbanana2:

I think they're also doing trial months again? I had one before and it just worked for me again.

I've never had this happen once. I'm still using ublock origin as I always have and the only problems I run into are the occasional video that I'll have to reload to play. Everyone getting these messages must be using the weaker adblockers that take money from certain companies to allow ads - go with ublock and you shouldn't have this problem.

They're rolling this out for everyone, uBlock or not. I think the girls with Chrome have it worse though

On Firefox I can just block the banner element that pops up and continue watching videos

they're so pushy with ads now. i almost never watch youtube because of how many ads they insist on giving us. google makes billions of dollars every year, they can handle not shoving so many ads down our throat

blame Spotify they opened that gate

For now uBlock origin is still working for me on Firefox, I had a different warning messagge few times the past week but once I closed it I manage to continue without ads, for now it didn't reappear lately, we'll see.

Personally I can't stand video ads, I might subscribe to premium at the end if there won't be other options since I use Youtube a lot.

YT has been financing itself for almost 20 years with very little additional features added over that long ass time span.  They're going in advertising overdrive because less people are watching YT, meaning less ad revenue, which ironically will push more people away from YT and continue ad revenue loss.  :rip:

Their decreasing users are the reasons why they can't let the 90% using ad block slip :rip: you want something and you have to pay for it in some form. Either by watching ads or getting premium. I never understood how they let ad blocks slide. However it's ridiculous that they're forcing the content creators to have ads not just at the end or the beginning but both and also in the middle. Blocking ad block would have been enough.

It's common sense really ? :rip: you want a service, you have to pay for it. Like what's there not to agree on, what's your logic? They can't ban ad block because they didn't do anything against them for years?

You still haven't explained how it's illogical to "defend" it, I'd really like to understand why and how you're separating it from any other service you're paying for

i don’t pay for any streaming service so let’s start there

and i won’t pay for something i’ve used for free during half of my life only because the owner wants more money, especially not if the service doesn’t warrant paying for it (youtube’s mostly dead anyway these days :rip: )

no one would use adblocks on youtube in the first place if they were reasonable, i don’t mind an ad here and there but having multiple ads before, during and after each video is just insane :rip:

if i paid for netflix i would be out after their first price hike. you constantly raise prices while there’s nothing interesting to watch and the few good shows get cancelled but i still have to pay more ? nah

YouTube is unusable now but I don't miss it that much.

this must be on the US or something, 'cause I still don't get any limitations and I'm using the same adblocker as ever :bibliahh::bibliahh:

They are rolling it out gradually on a WW scale. Be grateful they didn't get to you yet.

I’ve always been okay with ads at the beginning of the video, I mean it’s free

The ones in the middle of long videos are the ones that really need to go away

Those really destroy the experience

I spend most time in tik tok because Ads are less annoying

The percentual of people-users using adblock has always been very small, that is why they never bother before, also they don't force the content creators to have ads in the middle but it's them that choose to put them since Youtube pay them more if they have more ads.

In 2021 37% and in 2023 over 42% of the internet's user base use/d adblock

And YouTube is indeed forcing them, many asmr creators have talked about how they have no option to stop them from doing so and it ruins asmr for non premium users.
