It's the battle of Taylor's autumn vs summer album's singles

Which singles are bigger of these following albums?

I Knew You Were Trouble vs Cruel Summer

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together vs You Need To Calm Down

All Too Well vs Lover

22 vs ME!

Red vs The Man

I Knew You Were Trouble vs Cruel Summer (although CS will surpass in the long run)

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together vs You Need To Calm Down

All Too Well vs Lover

22 vs ME!

Red vs The Man

Red wins by a long shot. It's also the better, more acclaimed and bigger album and enabled her to peak TWICE with both 1989 and Midnights, as opposed to Loser which had her undergo an entire genre and career overhaul after the poor reception of its singles. :deadbanana2:

Red easily. Cruel Summer might end up being the biggest song overall but Red had 3 massive singles

We Are Never Ever felt ubiquitous in a way that the Lover singles didn't IMO

I heard that at my college bar, the gay club, random house parties.... an iconic moment

Biggest to weakest:

1. Cruel Summer

2. I Knew You Were Trouble

3. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

4. You Need to Calm Down

5. ME!

6. All Too Well

7. 22

8. Lover

9. Red

10. Everything Has Changed

11. The Man

12. I Bet You Think About Me

13. Begin Again

14. Message in a Bottle

15. The Last Time

Cruel Summer and IKYWT are really close but I will give edge to CS since it will peak higher and stay longer in the top 10. But all in all, Red still has the bigger singles since WANEGBT/IKYWT/22 is much bigger than ME!/YNTCD/The Man.

Red by a lot lol

But Cruel Summer will eat all the singles from both albums and probably her entire career in the next years

Red.. It was her proper first pop era and she got so much criticism for going pop. But it raised her global profile like no other. So when twitter fans call it country album, I find it weird. Because I know how much criticism she got for going pop.. But in end it paid off.

Wanegbt and ikywt were such mega smashes globally and paved the way for 1989's success. After fearless, sn was a let down globally in singles performance. Even though album sold well. So red revived her globalness. Cruel summer is absolute smashing and I love lover song. But it wasn't possible for five years old album to have smashes later. Red was instant mega success. Lover is getting it's due now and is way to her fourth 20 million seller. But red was a big turning point for her in global stardom

I think something that people need to keep in mind when comparing the digital era and the streaming era is that streams for singles and streams for albums are not differentiated like purchases of albums and purchases of singles.  So to accurately compare “units” you need to account for how well the album was doing in the digital era as well.

that said: it’s a bit of a slaughter for RED:

I Knew You Were Trouble vs Cruel Summer

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together vs You Need To Calm Down

All Too Well vs Lover. [Was all too well even a single in 2012-13?]

22 vs ME!

Red vs The Man
