I think I should mention STOP USING CHROME. Use Firefox or Safari if you have a Mac. Avoid chromium based browsers like Brave, or Edge.

I say this because Google wants to stop ad blocking on its browsers too.

Are people disliking positive comments about Premium just too broke to afford it?

theyre blocking ad blockers in safari already so if you use a mac firefox is the best choice.

Only on their buggy web browser Chrome, Mozilla + uBlock Origin ladies :bird:

Don't block or report ads. You know that thing where it says "Stop seeing this ad". If you do, they'll send you more of it.

I finally switched to Firefox because of this.

Why is Brave bad?

It’s chromium based. Basically it’s just Chrome with modifications. Google is trying their hardest to stop the use of ad blockers. Since they have a near monopoly on the browser market, it’s to make more money from ad revenue. The main alternative is Firefox.

just use a VPN to subscribe to Premium from a country like Argentina or Turkey. It's literally only $1/month. :dies:

Hmm I see. I just installed brave as many people on reddit were talking that it's better than chrome and it comes with adblocker etc.

Ugh.

I am never paying for youtube. I automated my feed, I use software that fetches all videos of my subscriptions, downloads them locally and sends them to my private cloud folder from which I can watch them from my TV.

I'm at this right now. Instead of disabling my adblocker I go to incognito mode (which has the adblock disabled), but my time using YouTube has been reduced since they blocked me. It's a win-win for me, less time for me using that trash platform. I mostly used it to watch music videos but I'd rather use only Spotify now :coffee2:

Spoiler

Brave browser keeps blocking the ads right on my phone tho

i mean, watching ads is how the youtubers/content creators get paid :rip:

Except they don't. Content creators have denounced how YouTube pays them less as the time goes by, despite of how much revenue the platform gets. Most content creators live off third party sponsors or Patreon :gaycat6:

I still remember the old days when people loved YouTube because it was for free and had way less ads than TV. Now YouTube is just TV 2.0 by this point :swan:

lol i saw this but i never disabled and just continued to watch :toofunny2:

Yeah I did this at for the first couple of months but then it started capping the number of videos I could watch. They're probably rolling this out incrementally.

OT: I don't use youtube regularly enough to warrant paying for it. I turned off my ad blocker and just suck it up for now. I'm sure someone will find a way around this sooner or later.

There is a way around it already. I was able to do it with the guide linked on page 1 and it works seamlessly.

The issue is that they are working hard on making this impossible.

It seems to have started some time this month: one says "If you have an ad-blocker on, YouTube will now only give you 3 videos to watch a day, similarly to porn sites where they limit the amount of previews you can watch a day, it's ridiculous"

who made this up? :bibliahh:

Just close the pop-up and you can watch every video like always

The day youtube finds a foolproof way of circumventing uBlock Origin is the day I stop using it, and honestly I hope it comes soon. I would be so productive without youtube procrastination :jonny:

edit: Not me speaking this into existence, I literally can't use youtube now :rip:

I signed up for Premium years ago and i don't regret it. I also use YouTube Music as my music platform alongside Apple Music. YT Music is pretty good and the sound quality is miles better than Spotify

I mean the whole deal is you either watch ads or you pay. I get that people don’t like ads but I don’t see why anyone should be outraged or offended by this. It’s not free to host this number of videos. But in the end everyone will be quiet and keep using YouTube, just like with Netflix after they stopped account sharing.

this. even though i love free stuff but i never feel entitled and say that i have the right to earn those free stuff...

like what?

Stop being cheap. (my friend share to me his family youtube premium so i dont have to pay anything though)

Youtube Premium is the one service that I have never regretted paying for each month, as well as Spotify. I actually use it so much and I like the other features it has. I've had it since it was Red and I have let it lapse only a couple of times and it makes me feel like I lost a substantial amount of things, particularly the ability to carry over whatever video I watch from X device immediately to the computer, etc.

I still get the occasional pop up message but they continue to let me watch.....

HOWEVER - they are ******* with the audio, it keeps cutting in and out/ very choppy.

It doesn't do this on my phone or when ads are enabled

THIS IS SICK
